Scraping the bottom of the barrel with that mulling pun. I thought yesterday's was pretty good at least, though.

I think it will be Wikelman for Portland today. Not going to predict a Yordannyesque breakout... but I think he will do like 1 run in 4 innings with 5 k or something like that.

I really thought he was on the verge of turning his BB-problem around and would vault into DO NOT TRADE status. I’m pretty awful at prospect evaluation

No Mayer again today. Has been day-to-day since July 31. I feel like this happened last year too.

I think he's retooling. He's been pretty good since they moved him to these shorter sessions. But yeah, he was definitely DNT because of not pitching well this season & not due to being too important to the future.

They've been treating him a bit differently from every other pitcher in terms of usage so I think they are probably just doing a bit more of an overhaul. '25 will be a big year, but I think we'll get a pretty solid end of season.

Last year he tried to play through it for a month and a half or so.

I like playing it safe better. But yes, the constant dings are becoming a bit of a yellow flag.

My worried meter is like a 3 or a 4.

This is far from my area of expertise, and the team is deliberately vague about it a lot of the time, but some of the injuries have been things like "lower body soreness" and "pectoral soreness," which sound like "going too hard in the weight room" to me. The current thing might be a bit more serious, though, guess we'll see.

My worried meter is like a 3 or a 4.
Out of what?

My Wikelman projection proved pessimist.

4 IP, 0 runs, 2 hits, 1 bb, 4 k (56 pitches, 37 strikes).

Brendan Cellucci came in for the 5th & allowed a homer to the 1st batter he faced.

JM3 already out here calling Anthony, Mayer and Teel overrated.

How fickle.

Nice to see Garcia’s power play in Portland, as it should. Hopefully he continues to refine his swing choices and makes good contact.
It's Phillip Sikes szn.

It's Phillip Sikes szn.
Sikes since 7/28, 17 games, 74 PAs:

.385/.460/.708, 1.168 OPS

Of course he's doing that with a .525 BABIP & a 28.4% k-rate, so it's probably a good time to short Sikes stock, but definitely going to enjoy it while it lasts.

But yeah, Portland has won 8 in a row.

Kelvin Diaz supplied a lot of the offense with a home run & a little league home run.

Yute almost got a hold of one, but not quite.

Karim Ayubi got his first A-Ball hit in his 2nd game, but couldn't find video. Sorry to the Ayubis of Curacao.

Musett 1-2, bb, hbp
Alcantara 2-4
AA 2-5
Ayubi 1-4

I think I still owe a Greenville writeup?

They won 5-3, scoring all of their runs in the 5th.

Solid start for HayMo, allowing his only run in the 5th. 5 IP, 1 ER, 4 hits, 4 bb, 4 k.

Cooper Adams pitched 3 scoreless. Zach Fogell came in for the 9th but ran into trouble & allowed 2 runs.

Fogell left the game with 2 outs in the 9th & 2 runners on in a 5-3 game. Reidis Sena allowed a walk to load the bases, & then allowed a groundball up the middle that looked like trouble until...
