Maybe you’re right. It’s pretty deep out there, hard to believe he didn’t make second. Missed a tie score by not that many feet.I could be mistaken but it looked like he broke hard out of the box but Allen just made a great play on the ball off the carom.
Or, don’t make the second out at second base when a teammate has steamed into third.Difference in run expectancy between first and third with one out and second and third with one out is about .25 runs.
Difference between first and third with one out and third base with two outs is about .8 runs.
You really need to know you will make it to justify the risk of making the second out.
