What question would you ask if you had a few minutes to sit down, alone with Bill Belichick and he agreed to answer a question about one topic with 100% honesty. No topics being off limits.

I'd ask about pass rush. From watching and reading about the Patriots it seems that Bill thinks about the pass rush differently then some other coaches in the league. I think the Patriots are always trying to get to the QB and want to apply pressure, but it doesn't seem as high on the priority list as other defenses that use a more straightforward attacking style. I'm specifically referring to Patriots defensive lineman playing a lot of 2 gap techniques and what from reading tea leaves seems like an emphasis on containment vs. depth of the pass rushers (especially against a mobile QB).

I'd love to get Bill's unfiltered thoughts on how he came to believe that this is best system of defense for the Pats, what makes him continue to believe in it as offenses have evolved over the past decade and how he thinks about managing risk/reward of trying to sell out on getting QB pressure without blitzing.

If you got alone time with Bill what would you ask?

I'd ask him the honest truth about Spygate and Deflategate.
I think you'd get almost exactly the same answers that he's given the press - that they didn't think they were really doing anything wrong in Spygate (as they weren't using the tapes for a game in that same game), and that he didn't know anything about DeflateGate (because it didn't happen).

I think the 2-gap vs 1-gap pass rushing question is interesting, because even as more teams have switched to the 3-4, they've maintained 1-gap, and even when the pats have been 4-3, they've played a lot of 2-gap. I'd love to hear why he's so enamored with it.

My question would be about the Patriots draft philosophy, and how it seemingly differs from the rest of the NFL - why are their boards so different, etc. Some of its clearly the different scouting agencies in play (and the fact that the people on TV have no idea what they're talking about), but they clearly have a very different evaluation system than other teams.

I would just ask him his opinions on Goodell and the media and what he thinks are the worst/hardest parts of doing his job.

where I was last at
I'd ask for him to expand upon his relationship with Parcells and in particular the decision to walk away from the Jets HC job, and accept the Pats job. and as a follow-up, to discuss his relationship with Kraft over the years.

Why is Jeff Fisher still a head coach?
Is Kraft a jock-sniffing pain in the ass or is he just a rabid fan/owner you actually like?
How many times have you caught or witnessed a team bending the rules and looked the other way?
What player were you most wrong about?
Were you against the Bledsoe extension?
What is your personal relationship with Brady?
How did you circle the wagons after the Chiefs' loss in 2014?
Do you see the Spygate/Deflategate penalties as sour grapes and a motivational tool?
Did the 2007 team peak too early? Were they running on fumes? And why did you not run the ball more in the 2 SB losses?
What is your relationship with other head coaches?

What does Ernie Adams really do?
Apparently no one knows:

Parcells said:
Hall of Fame coach Bill Parcells, when asked about Adams this week, was hard-pressed to recall anything about Adams even though Adams worked with the Tuna for six seasons.

“I can’t really tell you anything about him,’’ said Parcells. “I just don’t know the guy.’’

Informed that Adams was the New York Giants’ “director of pro personnel” in 1983 and ’84 — when Parcells was head coach of the team, Parcells said, “He was? I don’t remember that. I don’t remember him being on my staff.

“If he was on my coaching staff, I don’t remember what he was doing. I don’t have Alzheimer’s. I have a pretty good memory, and I didn’t have any interaction with him.’’

Tell me everything I don't know about Spygate and D'Gate.
How terrible are Matt Walsh and Eric Mangenius?
Tell me every detail about Roger Goodell that you know of.
Being SOOOO close to undefeated and GOAT status, yet so far. Fuck. (Not a question. But still.)
Do the two SB losses feel worse than the four feel good?
Tell me everything about your relationship with Parcells.

Why is Jeff Fisher still a head coach?
Relatedly, Who is the single worst head coach you competed against?

How would you assess Tony Dungy as a head coach?

If you could make one adjustment to the salary cap and how it operates, what would you change?

What player from the past (say, before 1995) do you think would be viewed most differently (better or worse) the way the game is played today

Is it true that you still wish you had been hired as the HC of the Giants and never had to deal with this miserable group of assholes collectively known as Patriots fans?

Seven Minutes, Seven Questions:

1. How can I take what you do successfully in your profession and apply it to my profession so that I am as successful?
2. Can I have about an hour in your library just to look through your football books?

3. Is there a formation, either offensive or defensive, from the history of the sport that you think would work in the NFL today? Why or why not would that formation be successful?
4. Is football dying, and if it is, what would you do to save it?
5. Why the Patriots? They were a joke of a franchise. Why did you come here?
6. Is there a specific trait you look for in your assistant coaches, and if so what is it?
7. Can I work for you?
