Last game before the ASB, Paxton against Morton, NY should have their A team bullpen back. Also NY sent Camarena back down after his one unused day as emergency long man, health care for life now even if he never makes it back. I am guessing they will bring back someone like Tarpley or Harvey now, maybe just for this one game. Holder is not fixed so please not him.

Morton killed NY during his HOU resurgence but they got to him in their only meeting so far this year, May 19, his worst start of the year, 88 pitches in 4 innings, 4 4 5 3 4 6. NY hit two home runs off Morton that game, amusingly the same guys who hit them today, Gardner and Hicks.

Paxton has somehow not faced the Rays yet this year, their current active roster has barely seen him, 3-16 with 3 singles (all by Avisail Garcia) and 9 Ks.

1. Aaron Hicks (S) CF
2. Aaron Judge (R) RF
3. Didi Gregorius (L) SS
4. Gary Sanchez (R) DH
5. Edwin Encarnacion (R) 1B
6. Brett Gardner (L) LF
7. Gio Urshela (R) 3B
8. Breyvic Valera (S) 2B
9. Austin Romine (R) C

Safe to say you won't be seeing this lineup again anytime soon. I won't pretend to have the slightest idea who the fuck is playing 2nd for us today...and keeping with the weirdness theme, today's game is one of the random few that, if you're not in either local market, is part of the vestigial agreement that gives TBS secondary access after ESPN to a random selection of Sunday games prior to the playoffs to broadcast...and I will see the game there...

Breyvic! Clearly you don't read my minor league updates, Coup. :)

Valera is a 27 year old who NY picked up off waivers in May and put on their 40 man. He can play pretty much anywhere and had a .982 OPS for Scranton in 182 ABs. Nice to see him get a shot, more evidence that Tyler Wade's days in this organization are likely ending soon.

Ahh now I have. The good news is that this is happening in Tampa, if he was getting his chance in The Show at the Stadium, he might be so awestruck he's literally paralyzed by the situation, @ the Rays shithole there is zero danger of that...

A couple of things to cheer up NY fans going into the long break:

1) Deivi Garcia is starting the Futures game for the AL tonight, 7 PM on MLBN.

2) NY starts the second half with ten straight home games, TOR-3, TB-4, COL-3.

Deivi with a 1-2-3 first inning, 14 pitches, 1 K, two pop ups, hits 97, 12-6 curveball. Compact motion. He’s a Little Pedro, just 5-foot-9.

So, much like the Yankees in the near future, hopefully we will have a deeper rotation for game threads in the second half. Who wants to kick us off?

I didn't see it confirmed, but evidently Boone said they wanted Voit to have one rehab game before coming back. He has been going at full steam in Tampa over the break while everyone else has been taking days off so that doesn't make much sense to me, but the sooner he is back, the better.

I talked about it a little last week, but I am so impressed with Gardner's season so far. All of the OFs ahead of him went out for very long stretches (Hicks, Judge, Stanton) and he has done a great job filling in constantly. Even though he is the oldest position player on NY, he is leading them in games played so far (84 of 88, 76 starts). He has 2.1 fWAR in 323 PAs to Bryce Harper's 2.0 in 395 PAs, he is doing a good job of making a case to be around yet again in 2020.
