Big day for Jordan Montgomery, making his first start since 2018 following TJ surgery. The 6-foot-6 lefty is 27 years old now. He went 9-7 in 2017 and 2-0 in 2018 before his elbow gave out. Pitched four innings last September in a pair of relief outings and looked good in the abbreviated spring training of 2020.
Montgomery matches up with journeyman Ryan Weber, a righthander, in tonight’s 7:05 start.
Boston just took two games from the Mets to short-circuit panic among its fan base. This is a team searching for new leaders. Catcher Christian Vazquez seems to be stepping up with his sneaky power. J.D. Martinez remains one of the game’s best hitters.
The Yankees need to establish a few things in this weekend series. Getting good starts tonight from Monty and Masahiro Tanaka tomorrow night is high on the list. NY is 4-1 in this disjointed beginning to the 60-game season.

Considering the amount of distancing and high fiving in the dugout, even though Kahnle is out in the bullpen, I'm assuming things just get worse inside the clubhouse. If it gets to this team, it's going to be Sherman Marching to the Sea....
You know the old joke about the word assume? Sure you do.

Fascinating that Montgomery’s recall is the corresponding move. Of course, this hasn’t stopped Incarcerated Bob and his modus operandi from claiming Tommy is out for the season.
Not sure what you mean here, they need a spot and Kahnle isn't available until they figure out what's wrong with him, short-term or long-term.

A few minutes behind still, but Montgomery looked good in the first even with a bit of a tight zone.

Gleyber in the lineup the day after being pulled mid-game after being plunked on the elbow is very good news, he is one of the toughest Yankees to replace.

Watching these Yankees in a season that will not finish is sort of like chasing the hottest girl in a bar, knowing you got no chance.

Voit should just bare all of his chest hair while he is at it.
Am I the only one who thinks his face is unrecognizable? It's not a weight loss thing, it's like he has been replaced by a different person and somehow no one notices.

Just caught up, amazing that Judge hit that pitch out the other way, so insanely strong.

Eck is falling in love with Green, who just fanned the first two looking at strike three on the black. Now Boone brings in Ottavino to face JD.

The slider looks sharp tonight. JD flies to center for third out.

No fans, no noise. Red Sox pitching staff filled with journeymen.
