Not short enough, Green is warming but two hits on the first three pitches.

NY would still be in good shape here if Green had just started the inning.

Actually it would still be 2-2 if Green had started the inning, assuming all the ABs went the same (and he would have faced different guys), because of that odd hit to right/force out.

What a shitty shitty day all around. Just waiting for someone to toss a hand grenade into the NY dugout...

I trust Cashman. If prices were too high, they were too high. Especially if there wasn't a player available who could put the Yankees over the top.

Thought that was gone.

Now that the players know they're not getting moved or bumped, except internally, maybe they can come back and win this one.

Surprised they're not pinch-hitting for Romine, a lot of aspects of this organization currently seem to be in second gear when they should be in third at least.

Romine loves swinging at that first pitch, the one off Sale too.

Nice inning by Britton.

Let's give Chapman another run or two to work with.

Johnny Blanchard hit 20 homers for the 1961 Yankees as the third-string catcher, left fielder and pinch-hitter extraordinaire. Back when teams carried 10 pitchers and seven reserves on the bench, the backup guys were pretty important, especially on doubleheader days. Of which the Yanks have two in the next fortnight.

A win today would make me feel better.

Man, just really disappointed overall. This team is more than good enough to win but the Mets really did play spoiler, huh?

Judge has gone through a big slump in each of his Yankee seasons so far, including 2017. He just singled. When he gets hot, he can carry these guys.
Singles by Judge and EE to open the eighth.

Not just them, it was kind of bad luck all around. No way CLE sends Bauer to a top AL team if at all possible, and I am sure TOR didn't want to send the face of their franchise to the Yankees after Drury/McKinney have been kind of duds.

Edit: And HOU gave up a ton for Greinke, but he would have reportedly vetoed a trade to NY anyway, and he had no veto power over a HOU deal.

I saw one trade rumor linking Bauer to Houston and had to laugh because he and Gerriit Cole hate each other from their college days at UCLA.

Yep, I told my Astros friend this the other day. He didn't want Bauer (because Bauer is an ass) and I let him know it wouldn't happen.
