Last time we met these guys for a quickie 2 game dalliance things did not go well. This time we're at home, had a day of rest and yet it's a total crapshoot whether either of our starters will be good or putrid. Both seem to have no middle ground atm.

A lot of reinforcements coming soon, DJ tomorrow (or today off the bench), Gardner should be back Friday for the Sox series, Sanchez is doing well and might be back early next week, CC is feeling better.

The reinforcement I'm most curious about is Stanton. I know the deal on Betances and Severino. But I haven't seen anything on him lately .

From the past hour:

“Giancarlo Stanton's recovery is still going slowly. Not doing baseball activities yet.”

He’s working out with Ellsbury in Tampa. Just kidding. Apparently the knee injury is not healing well. Surgery would end his season so they must be hoping rest and rehab will have him ready for September. But where does he fit if all stay healthy?

It's beginning to look like we may not be able to do anything meaningful by 4 pm tomorrow, in large part because one team, with no one I have found yet able to postulate any more rational strategy, decided just to block Cashman by who they did acquire and who they refuse to deal with...

It's cold comfort that the Sox seem to be having no better success.

You underestimate Cashman. The party does not begin until noon tomorrow. Arizona is in town. Something will happen with them, maybe something small.

Voit out of the game, hrm. Maybe Clint Frazier will get another chance with NY after all, or Mike Ford...

Voit was hit on the elbow by a curve in the first inning and looked uncomfortable in his second AB, so maybe just being careful.

I'm not going to miss Wade, but I wouldn't be totally surprised if he blossoms elsewhere.
