Denyi Reyes may elicit yawns from the scouting community, but the 21-year-old righty is second in the SALLY in ERA (1.76), first in wins (10), first in WHIP (0.85), first in strikeouts (119), first in innings pitched (117.2) and prevents walks like nobody's business (13). He also has not failed to go at least five innings since April (and has only failed to go five in a start once all season).

Edilson Batista was bruised for three runs on eight hits and a walk in four frames; whiffing a pair. Luis Rivero relinquished one hit and one walk over three innings. Alberto Franco finished the game with two scoreless; allowing a hit and striking out two.

Brandon Howlett banged out four hits – he was a triple shy of the cycle – and drew a walk in five battles. Jagger Rusconi ripped two singles and reached on catcher's interference in five jaunts. Chad Hardy hit a single and a double in four at-bats. Ricardo Cubillan contributed a single in his only contest after replacing Jecorrah Arnold who had a single and a walk in four junkets. Juan Carlos Abreu collected a single, a walk, and a sacrifice fly in five appearances. Elih Marrero managed a single and a sacrifice fly in four excursions. Keibert Petit and Caleb Ramsey each procured a single in four treks. Josh Tobias was unable to reach in five frustrating forays.

Carlos Cortes was knocked for one run on four hits over two innings; striking out two. Alvaro Leal allowed a hit and a wild pitch in the eighth; whiffing one.

Fabian Andrade flipped a single and a double in four forays. Ceddanne Rafaela ripped a single, drew two walks, and stole a base in four contests. Leonel Jimenez jolted a single in four jaunts. Bryan Lucas allowed a hit and a walk while whiffing two in the first. Carlos Velez was victimized for three runs on three walks and a hit over 1 2/3 innings; striking out all five batters he retired. Gregori Segovia surrendered one run on three hits and a walk over 4 1/3 frames; whiffing a quintet and uncorking a wild pitch. Richardson Jimenez yielded two runs (one earned) on two hits and two walks while picking up two outs – both by K – and unleashing a pitch to the backstop. Isaias Ozoria faced four batters and set them all down, one by way of the K.

Oscar Rangel ripped two singles, obtained two walks, and stole a base in five opportunities. Angel Maita and debutante Gregori Custodio each collected two singles and a walk in five matchups; Maita with three stolen bases, Custodio with a pair of swipes. Nelfy Abreu and Yulis Hernandez each hit a double and drew two bases on balls in five appearances; Hernandez with a stolen base, Abreu was picked-off/caught stealing. Jarren Duran and Xavier LeGrant each legged out two singles in four excursions; LeGrant was picked off. Marcus Walden wilted in 1 1/3 frames; allowing three run on three hits – including a Yadiel Hernandez homer – and a walk; striking out two and uncorking a wild pitch. Trevor Kelley was knocked for one run on four hits, a walk, and a wild pitch in 1 1/3 innings. Fernando Rodriguez relinquished three runs (one earned) on three hits and three walks over three innings; striking out a quartet and uncorking a pitch to the backstop. Outfielder Cole Sturgeon came to the mound for his first pitching performance since 2015; inducing a grounder to shortstop Ivan De Jesus who threw it away as the ghost runner came in to score.

Oscar Hernandez hit a double, was hit by a pitch, and dropped a sacrifice bunt in six opportunities. Mike Miller managed a double and a walk in five matchups before giving way to Tony Renda who ripped a single in two trips. He has to have elite control, if not command. He's the type of guy who is going to have to prove himself at every single level but hopefully he will.
