I had to check this twice but the Yankees have off Monday and Thursday. Two much needed days off before another 4-set vs Boston next weekend (sat is the DH)

A-Rod said that Mookie's sacrifice fly to make it 8-4 "cut the lead in half", he seriously makes like 20 factual errors per game and adds very little.

I'm not a fan of this broadcast team, but I do appreciate the discussion they're having on Maybin. Good stuff.

Yes, please chant Yankees suck when you're down 9-4 and about to be 9 games back of the division. Brilliant Sunday night crowd.

Romine/Higashioka hit .400 in this series with two homers if they’re done, 6-15.

We wouldn't have a division lead without our depth. Andujar, Bird, Severino, Betances, Tulo, and Stanton feel like they're not even in our organization right now.

Edit: Yes, Tulo actually is not. Point being that these were supposed to be major pieces to make the division competitive.

Doesn't help to get fucked by the ump. Thought we were getting Brit and instead we got London.

Exhale, I did not expect that to end well.

Chapman has had lots of problems against the Sox over the years, this one's not over yet.

Leadoff walk seemingly every single inning, nothing easy. Please throw strikes.

"Great move by Aaron Boone" says A-Rod to bring in Chapman? What the fuck else could he have done? David Hale?

Wouldn't mind seeing a few of those 101s in the zone now, Aroldis.

OK, pretty damn ugly, but we'll take it, huge huge necessary win.

A bit of macro perspective: a 3-4 week @MIN and @BOS is not bad. Well-deserved day off tomorrow.

I do not believe there exist the bodies Cashman needs to find to shore up the chinks that have been exposed this week
The pitching salvation has to come from within. Do you believe in miracles? Seve and Betances must return and produce.

Yanks showed a lot of heart tonight. Kind of sloppy but it was sweet to kayo Sale and get into the bullpen.

We all need to take a day off and exhale.

The problem is that you have correctly characterized the effective return of Seve, Betances and, for that matter, Stanton as miracles. We both saw some in '68, I'm not expecting any others in my life.

Yes, time to exhale. And let's be fair to the SP, first they faced Twins potent lineup, and then immediately after that a scorching hot Boston lineup.

I think this is a slight overreaction. This was an important win but the worst thing that could have come from this series would have been an 8 game lead in the loss column. The Sox absolutely needed a bare minimum of 3 wins and really could have used the sweep.

Boston has picked up 1 game in the last 10 while we were playing our worst baseball in decades and still sit in 3rd place. They're absolutely in the wild card picture and in my opinion, the best team of the bunch, but they need sustained success to be able to beat out Oakland (97 wins last year, lest we forget), the Rays, or either the Twins or Cleveland with the Angels on their heels.

The big lead down the stretch last year for Boston I think really helped them in the postseason, they were 74-33 at this point (59-48 now) and peaked at an insane 88-36 (115-47 pace) before coasting in at 20-18 to 'only' 108-54, and then cranking it right back up and steamrolling three 100 win teams in the postseason. Hopefully NY can keep the big cushion, 10 in the loss column now with 57 left.

I can actually see the doubt with Severino and Stanton given what we know/have been told but I am much more optimistic about top-level Betances at some point.

Well, if the Blue Jays were demanding Torres for Stroman, as was being reported, then no thanks. It's pretty clear they they did not want to trade him to a division rival. Bumgarner and Minor are still available.

Can't blame them for finding something to do that they enjoy doing when their team wasn't giving them anything to enjoy.

Bumgarner has never been available and slmost definitely is not now. Ray, Greinke, Minor, Bauer, all maybe but not Bumgarner.
