In the 1970s, several players came to pinstripes via trade and free agency, None of them wilted in the NY spotlight — Catfish, Nettles, Chambliss, Reggie. That all started in the 1980s with Ed Whitson and others. Now it’s like an epidemic. But Jazz seems different. He doesn’t have to be the center of everything, as he was in Miami. He seems like a perfect fit on a team that will keep Jazz focused on team play and winning games. I still can’t believe how well he played at third base in his first shot at the position..

It seems like so many big fish from small ponds come to New York and just can't do the work. It's nice to feel confident about a kid like Chisholm who rolls in with some swagger and is ready to take on the world. I don't think the environment is too big for him. It's going to be fun.

Still don't like him learning 3B on the job though, even if he seems like a natural.
I read a Newsday story today about how he grew up a Yankees fan and that he was a big ARod fan. Hopefully he makes the transition as smoothly as Al did.

NY relievers have let 3 of 4 runners score, difference in the game currently.

I had to step away early for this one. Anyone have any idea why Gleyber was pulled?

Edit: It may have had nothing to do with defense, but damn, I don't understand why Gleyber would ever start on a day Stroman is pitching. Guy is struggling enough as it is. Put the best possible infield behind him. Which on the active roster probably isn't Cabrera either. DRS isn't everything, but Cabrera is +5 at 3B and -1 at 2B. I know they're giving Jazz all the reps at 3B so he can learn it because Gleyber is still around and can't do anything but play 2B and DH, but fuck.

I'm beginning to understand how you guys felt about IKF last year. Gleyber is my IKF. I'd rather have IKF than Gleyber on the Yankees right now. At least IKF could do some of the little things well. I'm not sure what Gleyber does well except increase my blood pressure.

“The Yankees are 6-16 in their last 22 home games, which is their worst stretch at home since 1917.”

Gleyber hit a ball off the left field wall but didn’t hustle and had to stay at first. Then when Volpe doubled, Gleyber got thrown out at home instead of easily scoring as he would have from second. Then Boone pulled him.

And yeah, crazy to not let DJ play second today after his awesome game on Wednesday. Maybe tomorrow!
