That was a problem for him in the minors before this season, but he seemed to figure it out in AAA this year, obviously a different thing. One thing that makes it a little harder is they sit him a bunch against lefties so I think more of his ABs against lefties are against relievers, probably tougher on average.I hope they keep Rice too, but they might need a platoon partner for him unless he figures something out. Not going to do it again right now, but when I checked a few days ago his OPS+ against lefties was in the 50s, against righties somewhere around 110.
But he’s young. He’ll improve.
A pretty routine DP that should have ended the inning and kept it 3-0, perfect throw from Jazz at 3B to Gleyber at 2B, who then got skittish of the not so close to him Schwarber, sidestepped, double clutched, late throw, let the run score, brought up Harper with 1st and 3rd instead of ending the inning. For those of us on their commuter train, can we get an explanation?
Usually when you see the replay on a play like this, you find out that he didn't get a good grip on the ball at first and that's why he double-clutched. That didn't seem to be the case here - he just decided to stop and start his throwing motion. Not a typical play at all. He's in his head.A pretty routine DP that should have ended the inning and kept it 3-0, perfect throw from Jazz at 3B to Gleyber at 2B, who then got skittish of the not so close to him Schwarber, sidestepped, double clutched, late throw, let the run score, brought up Harper with 1st and 3rd instead of ending the inning.
Just wait until the dust settles tomorrow, 22 hours left.Bring up Peraza. Sit or trade Gleyber. Figure out between Peraza and Chisholm who can handle 3B best. Or keep putting Cabrera at 3B and move Jazz over.
I know there could be a downgrade at the plate, but how much of one? Gleyber hasn’t been that great either.
Pitchers are struggling. Starters and relievers, lots of guys. Get some better defense behind them and maybe take a little pressure off.
Rant complete.
Quick refresh.Austin Wells has been flying up the WAR charts both for all MLB catchers and for AL rookies. Big hit!!!
Judge’s ABs carry the same excitement that Mantle created. The cameras loved Mick from the moment he kneeled in the on-deck circle.Exactly 2/3 of the season done after tonight, 108 games, so 39 projects to 58.5. Now he finally has some support behind him and teams are going to have to pitch to him more, look out.
My favorite athlete of all time, any sport.
Haha! Narvaez almost had his first career homer come against a position player, but he just hooked it foul.Stubbs pitches around Stanton.
