He had one of the most feeble ABs ever in his previous AB, so much better if that it is his final AB ever for us.

Leave Holmes in, just 10 pitches and Luke Weaver threw a ton last night.

Judge is 4-4 with a double, a homer, and 2 walks, is that good?

1st game, NY up 7-4 and BOS scores the final 5.
2nd game, NY up 8-6 and NY scores the final 5.

I thought I was watching the London games for a minute at the start, what a wild two games so far.

I hope you did not listen to you!
I woke up in bottom of 10th, followed on my iPad. Just too draining. Reminded me of the rivalry 20 years ago. Exhausting. Good win. Happy for Gleyber. One game out of first place. Who killed the Orioles?

On another positive note, even if they don't get bullpen help, within the next couple of days with Chisholm on board and Stanton back, it should be just a little bit easier to win 11-8 games. And we'll probably see a bunch of them. :p

Two no-hit innings for Holmes on just 26 pitches, he should get a win (the 9th) and a save (the 10th). :)

First Yankees win over Boston since the Jeter flies into the stands game of July 1 2004 where New York was trailing with 2 outs and down to their last strike.

Verdugo doubles to left leading off. Can of corn anywhere else. Judge plates him with an excuse me dribbler past first. And now Wells doubles to right. Which brings up Jazz Chisholm.

I'm surprised Chisholm is in CF right away. He might be the worst CF on the team behind Grisham, Judge, and maybe Verdugo.

I guess things won't get sorted out until the trade deadline when we find out who stays or goes.

We were worried about Gleyber’s morale last night but now it seems like he is getting motivated by the competition. Light my fire!

Showcase those skills!
Gleyber made a nice scoop on Cabrera’s low throw from third.

Several underachievers in pinstripes this season have been so fragile mentally. How do you go from best record to a five-week slump? And what spurs a turnaround? The trade deadline?

Yanks playing good baseball tonight. Taking advantage of mistakes. Moving runners up. Getting them home.

Rodon is slinging in the rain. Needed just 19 pitches for fifth and sixth innings. His bounce back from HR-HR-3B to open fourth has been noteworthy.

Verdugo is 7-for-14 in this series. Boone knows he wakes up for the Red Sox so he put him at lead off where he is setting the table nicely for the big eaters.

This might be the cleanest game Yanks have played since the sky fell in. Augmented by a clumsy Red Sox defense.

He got to Fenway just an hour before the game so Boone wanted to use him where he has mostly been playing since last year. Rodon really bailed him out on that Devers ‘triple’.

Nice win, nice series, everyone still on the team get on the plane to Philly. Not so fast, Gleyber…

After a series in which Boston’s defense played to a Little League level, seems odd for Max Goodman to pick on Gleyber. Besides, how many second basemen have started regularly since 2018? Altuve comes to mind. He has 48 errors since 2018 and only one this season to Gleyber’s 13. So not counting this year, Torres had fewer errors than Altuve since 2018.

Gleyber’s error tonight came on a play where the base runner hopped over the ball as it skidded towards Gleyber. Not excusable but not an easy play. Torres actually had a couple nice plays on DP pivots.

He had a really good defensive game in the Saturday night craziness, but in general he is unacceptable defensively, plus he is still one of the least instinctual baserunners I've ever seen, making multiple mistakes on the basepaths again last night. I will be unpleasantly shocked if he is still in pinstripes on Wednesday.

I was thinking Gleyber might be a great fit in Boston. He’s a .283 hitter lifetime vs. Boston. Fenway seems to fit his hitting approach. He can pull the ball. His fielding lapses would hardly be noticed.

Jazz with his first game ever at 3B at any level, I believe. What could go wrong?

Alex Verdugo LF
Juan Soto RF
Aaron Judge CF
Austin Wells C
Giancarlo Stanton DH
Jazz Chisholm Jr. 3B
Gleyber Torres 2B
Ben Rice 1B
Anthony Volpe SS

I'm fine with that only because his offense+defense is still likely to be better than anyone else's they can roll out there.

Plus, that is the first good looking lineup we've seen in a long, long time.

I'm waiting to see what the team looks like in a few days, more moves almost certainly still coming.

Can Gil neutralize this Phillies lineup? Schwarber hit two bombs yesterday against Cleveland. Trea Turner is a great No. 2 hitter. Then Harper followed by Alec Bohm. Lineup of professional hitters that goes nine deep.

This game is on Amazon streaming by the way, starting at 6:40. It's possible it is on MLBN too, not sure how blackout rules work these days.

I don’t know how the blackout works either. Here in Philly, the game is on NBC 10, as usual. I will be watching with two Phillies fans.
The Phillies have an owner who spends money and the best GM/President to fix the roster at various times of the year. DD is happy to be in Philly.

The ball is carrying tonight. John Kruger can’t believe that ball got out. Blames it on hot weather.

Rice crushed his homer.
