I really don't want to start a new thread after yesterday's game. I just want to keep watching highlights and reading about the epicness that we watched.

Also, we commented during the game yesterday but Target Field has to be the worst in the majors. The bright lights and noise injection are awful. Add to that they are trying to play psychological games by playing "New York, New York" when the Yankees strike out, and I can't wait to leave this place.

Sanchez is getting an MRI for what sounds like a groin injury. IL is probable. Lineup will improve dramatically with him sitting.

Sanchez to the IL, Holder back down, which allows them to bring back Cortes Jr along with Higashioka and cover the bullpen better.

At this point, the only concerning part about Sanchez to the IL is how long it will be. Groins usually take 2-3 weeks plus a little rehab, right? Take August off and get strong, fix your swing.

Not sure how hurt he really is, good timing to give him a break and Higashioka has been killing it in AAA.

Baldelli is wrong about the Voit check swing in the 8th (they showed a side view and he definitely held up), and correct about the 3-2 pitch right after that, but even the 3-2 pitch was right on the corner. It was a strike but Green got a crucial similarly borderline pitch called against him on the final batter also.

You can witness five or six pitches every game that the umpire sees differently from the electronic strike zone. And that’s in a well-umpired game. I was stunned to see a Voit awarded a walk because he has been caught looking on close pitches about six times this month. Hitters are so disciplined nowadays.

Ask and you shall receive:

Brett Gardner said that Boone and the trainers can tell that he’s not quite himself, but he hopes that one more day off will get him back in the lineup. Gardner says he’s available off the bench if needed.

They’re halfway across the country for starters, plus they understandably don’t trust Clint Frazier to play adequate D and I think the only other 40 man option is Wade. They’ve said Gardner is available off the bench each day, they’ve just stayed away from him because they could.

Last night's game took five hours and three minutes. Why isn't anyone arguing today that overlong games are ruining baseball?

I have seen a few people saying that was terrible to watch, but IMO they are out of their minds.

MIN with a couple of pitching moves too, Blake Parker DFAd, Kohl Stewart sent down, Carlos Torres and lefty Devin Smeltzer up.

LOL, terrible to watch? That game had everything. It's the boring games with nothing but walks, strikeouts and home rums that are terrible to watch.

"Last night was the first Yankees game with a 45+ percent Win Probability swing on 3 different plays since 8/21/1954 at Boston (all against the Yankees as they blew leads in the 9th, 10th & 12th). Numbers from @DanHirsch's great site, The Baseball Gauge."

The best part of that 1954 box score is that the tough loss (NY was ahead in the 9th, 10th and 12th and still lost) dropped their season record to 83-39. And Whitey Ford pitched the 10th-12th!!

Just watched another set of highlights from last night. Just a crazy game that felt like a playoff game in the sense of how intense it was. I was physically sick for the final three innings.

Not just you (and me, I watched the final three innings a second time, and then it was on again when I turned the TV on this AM, so I watched some of it a third time, plus highlights), the clubhouse too:

"Aaron Boone said he and the coaches sat around in uniform last night just marveling at that game. One player said earlier it took him hours to stop buzzing and fall asleep."

NY's second best record through 100 games in the last 50 years, way behind the 1998 team but ahead of every other edition (64-36 last year, 65-35 this year).

last night he wound up on his back on top of 2nd, tonight he didn't want to jam his fingers on the base making it way too close...clinics on how not to do it...
Those two looked like if you asked a dolphin to avoid a tag at second. :)

I just enjoy how EE comes up smiling, laughing with opposing infielders, enjoying the game. Never knew he was so personable.

Odorizzi coming back to reality the past month is a very bad sign for MIN, up to 48 pitches already.

More sloppy ball/strike calls but ok. Jake O at 53 pitches through 2.

btw right now, if the Yankees were to bestow the letter 'C' on a player, I'd instantly pick DJ....everything about his deportment merits it
I said last year (or the year before?) Judge and Didi co-captains and I still like that, but DJ would be great too once he’s been here longer.

One thing that drives me nuts with umpires is when there is one righty and one lefty starter and they clearly give a wider strike zone to one of them, which is what is happening in this game so far.

Gift run from the ump after a bullshit walk, there's one for your side, Rocco.
