Quick facts for today's game:
Day game
Senzatela sucks
Tanaka is good
Rockies have a lot of lefty bats
It will be hot as balls

Quick speculation for today's game:
Short porch is going to see some action
Dahl will probably play, and will rake
A young player on the Yankees will do good things
Ryan Ruocco will be great in the booth
Aaron Judge will totally lose his shit after another low called strike and will stomp all over the ump like Godzilla in Tokyo

NY has now finished precisely half a season after their 6-9 start, 57-24 in their last 81.

My prediction is that Tauchman plays again.

From Reddit, I am not changing my avatar but someone should grab this:

Also this is great, Coley Harvey took a pic of the inside top of the dugout before today's game to document Gardner's impact(s):

This is excellent from reddit - Judge adjusted his pant length during the game after getting called out on a strike below his knees.

Opposing teams are 2 for 47 with RISP since the All-Star break, one of those two is D'Arnaud's HR off Chapman. Wow.

Well, my prediction about Tauchman starting again today was wrong. Sanchez and Gio sit:

1. 3B DJ LeMahieu (R)
2. RF Aaron Judge (R)
3. CF Aaron Hicks (S)
4. DH Edwin Encarnacion (R)
5. 1B Luke Voit (R)
6. SS Didi Gregorius (L)
7. 2B Gleyber Torres (R)
8. C Austin Romine (R)
9. LF Brett Gardner (L)

Tanaka needs 8 pitches for a 1-2-3 first inning.

One advantage of inter league games is the lack of history between hitters and pitchers.

I might be just seeing things, but Judge’s stance seems a touch wider, more over the plate than it has been at its top with hand position.

This game feels so far like my family bought the world’s weakest piñata to smack around.

At least two managers got tossed yesterday, I think Boone riled up all of baseball.

That looked like some early 60s Mets Yo La Tengo shit out there. Awesome hustle and aggressiveness all day on the basepaths today.

Gleyber running the bases like I used to when hitting leadoff in slow pitch softball.

The Rockies look desultory. Like they knew going in that with Senzatela on the mound they had no chance today.

Hot day + lousy pitcher + stacked opposing team = shitty day at the ballpark.

They've been getting crunched all week, they gave up 40 runs to SF in a 4 game sweep just before this.

Nice play by Arenado to end it, Bettis is at 19 pitches to Tanaka's 18. :)

Colorado's plan there was to mess up Tanaka by making him wait forever between innings.

Man on the moon and baseball? My favorite story there has to be Gaylord Perry, with Alvin Dark saying man would be on the moon before Perry hit an MLB home run. Perry’s first, against Claude Osteen, was just a few minutes after the Eagle had landed, July 20th, 1969.

You're missing a key part of that story, it was Perry's 8th year in the bigs, he had like 500 ABs before that. Pretty great story, agreed.

Thanks for the shoutout YES, geez.

Trivia is easy: 96, 97 Rockies, 73 Braves. Castilla/Galarraga/Walker, Burks/Castilla/Galarraga, Aaron/Dewey Evans/Davey Johnson, respectively.

Want to say the last time the Yankees had multiple 40+ guys were the M&M Boys in 61?

Yeah, good call. The way I framed that, Perry may as well have been a light hitting infielder like Dal Maxvill, not a veteran pitcher.

Also, just take him out of the game Boone. Get him checked out anyway.
Maybe, the thing is they only have a few subs and you need to be careful with the heat and guys feeling it in the later innings. Happ's deal yesterday was a calf cramp in the 5th.

9-0, they should just let them stop.

Seriously, now get some of these guys off the field. 9-0, give the game to the backups
Who? The bench is Sanchez, Tauchman and Urshela. The latter two will likely get in soon, but they might want to give Gio a day off too.

That's true but then wait til the 6th or so and do it.
