The Land of Thomas Cecil
Team from Canada swept? Check.
Rival team, playing in London, swept? Check.
Cross borough rival swept? It starts tonight.

This one’s for Jasson and to celebrate his official welcoming to the Yankee family. Will be nice to be in normative field conditions/park factors for this one at least, hoping that follows suit for Paxton tonight. To my eye, he hasn’t looked truly his usual excellent stuff since coming off the IL a little more than a month ago.

Paxton already got shelled by the Mets once this season, really need a big bounce back outing from him tonight. NY had to push their bullpen quite a bit this weekend, so not sure who is even available tonight.

No DH these two games, so it makes even more sense to give Voit the 10 days off.

1) LeMahieu 3B

2) Judge RF

3) Hicks CF

4) Sanchez C

5) Gregorius SS

6) Encarnacion 1B

7) Torres 2B

8) Gardner LF

9) Paxton P

The depth of talent on the roster allows the Yanks to take a conservative approach to injuries. Sort of been doing that all year. It was interesting to see how pissed Cashman was about Severino not getting an extra MRI before he hurt the lat last month. He implied that Seve hates MRIs and the medical staff let him off the hook.

Nice eye by Judge. He really has evolved from his first year where he swung at every slider.

Nice eye by Judge. He really has evolved from his first year where he swung at every slider.
He gets so much more respect now from umps (and also pitchers) so that helps. Also the 2-2 pitch was a strike. :)

Baseball remains so resolutely incapable of dealing with modern technology competently. On the MLBN video the camera showing any man at 1st is set so the cable supporting the netting is directly across the players and the dead center of the basepath to 2nd. It would take minimal competence to readjust the rigging and/or camera angles to avoid this...but this is baseball and everyone is utterly clueless...

Wheeler has great stuff and yet he is at 39 pitches with no outs in second and two on. Torres singles in Didi for first run.

This offense just keeps grinding. DJ has struck out twice but Yanks still have two runs in two innings. As Evel Empire says, they do the little things. That’s why they are a better team this year.

Yanks will buy out Ellsbury for $5M, saving $16M off his current number. And CC’s $8M go away. Didi is a huge part of this team, in so many ways.

Gleyber forced Cano at second on that DP. Symbolic of the key decisions Cashman has mostly got right in the last five years.

Encarnacion has bad numbers since coming to NY, but I like the way he works ABs.

Pitchers hitting is the dumbest thing, but good job by Paxton bunting twice 'successfully'.

Um, Michael, of course you can lose WAR if you start to suck.

Absolutely ridiculous, the catcher, the hitter, the pitcher, all think it's a strike. Nope.

Jon, this is a spectacular DP combo, Didi and Torres. They have been turning some beauties lately. Kaat just commented on Didi’s throw to first to nip Conforto. Big arm.

Ah, they left in Wheeler for Gleyber, he is done at 116 pitches.

Chad Green should be back in the bullpen fulltime by tomorrow, if not tonight, now that German is back in the rotation. He threw a ton of pitches on Saturday, though, so he might get another day if they can.

Oh, that's a strike? Ugh.

Speaking of Chad Green, our old buddy Justin Wilson who got traded for Cessa and Green.

All four of NY's top relievers pitched both Saturday and Sunday, but pitch counts were all pretty low at least.

Kahnle does his job and gets some tough hitters, 2-1 through 7.

Time for the Yankee lineup to go nuts.

Very sleepy offensive game, let's see if the bullpen can hold on.

Brett should have caught that too, bad defensive inning. Hopefully Britton can keep it tied.

Yeah, this is a trap week, in between London and the ASB and facing two desperate and hungry teams.
