Can’t wait until they try something like that with Gore later in the season. Awesome idea, even if it didn’t work out.

Got to be Ottavino and Chapman now, right? Only two who haven't pitched today, very well put together games by the NY powers that be.

At this point in his career, if not a TV analyst, I think Buck would be a great bench coach for a young manager. Seems like he could be a good mentor for players and managers both.

It depends how flexible he is with listening to analytics people, hard for some of the older guys to adapt.

Now Ottavino is in, so maybe he can finish it and they can give Chapman the day off.

I fucking hate that YES has the Nets and will now subject us to endless KD and Kyrie hype. Nowhere to hide for Knicks fans.

The Scranton Twitter feed is calling their team the 'Baby Savages'. :)

I was pretty sure they were gonna either get swept or lose three out of four after that first game. Huge bounce back.

Amazing rebound from that Monday night disaster. The wild card race is going to be, ahem, wild this year.

I honestly hate how often we play these teams. It gets boring constantly playing the Rays and Sox.

Being the third wheel in the AL East suuuuuuucks
Well, the future is quite bright as you know, but you're always welcome on the good ship Cashman.

Neo-Babe's game winner was the only hit TB got with RISP in this series, 1 for 24.

Cortes Jr sent down after the game, which maybe means Tarpley stays up? Not sure.

Aaron Boone owes 'jomboy' a nice dinner at the least, he definitely went up in a lot of people's estimations today because jomboy synched up the hot mike to that rant and subtitled it. A pretty large percentage of the time when a manager goes nuts, it is at least in part to try to rally his team, and it often feels forced. This was totally legit, effective and hilarious, I think my favorite underappreciated line in the middle was "I feel bad for you, but fucking get better!".

FWIW, home plate ump Brennan Miller (first year, 5th game ever, nice assignment, league) did not ump one of the bases in game 2 but was replaced by a spare ump, have not seen an (alleged) reason yet. He missed so many calls in the first few innings of game 1, balls that were strikes and strikes that were balls. Hopefully when they decide whether to suspend Boone, they will factor in that Miller was actually much better for the rest of the game after Boone yelled in his face to get better (yelling from the dugout was not working), so the rest of the game was much more about the players and not Miller's random shittiness.

Yes, it was hilarious. Gardner going apeshit with the bat in the dugout while Hicks was smiling was also funny.

Can they trade Wander Franco for a hitter? Adames looks like a legit shortstop.

Tough to watch Tampa bringing a pistol to a cannon fight. It’s hard on the pitchers because they have no margin for error.

They are not trading Franco, but it would be an interesting exercise since the new Fangraphs Trade Value rankings have just come out this week, top 10 tomorrow. Franco is #23 despite still being in A ball, the most interesting possible match I see on the list is Joey Gallo at #28, who is under control through 2022. Kris Bryant is #25, under control through 2021. Who would get you to move Franco, Vorp?

He’s untouchable. He's Ted Williams who switch hits and plays SS like Ozzie Smith. In 30 years, people will say "there goes Wander Franco, the best there ever was in this game". You can't give that up, no matter what crazy offer you might get.

I just raised the idea of Tampa trading Franco to stir up a conversation. A switch-hitting Ted Williams? No way Tampa can trade a guy that good!
