They needed a slider in the zone earlier in the count, D'Arnaud outthought Sanchez there.

NY was 49-0 when leading after 8, now they are 49-1. It happens, sucks when it does though.

If you had Travis D'Arnaud as the first catcher ever to hit 3 HRs in a game against the Yankees, you won big.

Encanacion with 2 HRs against a team that is paying him $5M despite him never having played for them (part of a three way deal).
D'Arnaud with 3 HRs for Tampa when the Mets are still paying his salary despite his replacement (Ramos) only having 4 HRs all season.

But the funniest one? All nine runs were driven in by former Blue Jays (Encarnacion, D'Arnaud, Urshela).

Wow. D’ar-no-doubt

I mean, the bullpen still sucks, but I’ll take it. d’Arnaud has turned out to be a great pick up. Rays have had some real hard luck losses to Yanks this year, so maybe things will even out for the next 3 in a row!

That's what they say, take them three at a time. :)

Want to start tomorrow? It would be opposite rules for you, so if TB wins, you get to keep going.

we were quite literally beaten by one man tonight...
Pretty much except it was the first two guys that got clean hits with two strikes that let it get to the 5th batter of the inning. Generally Chapman doesn't seem to fully warm up by the start of the first batter, I think he figures that his 90 percent stuff is often good enough, he is good at getting out of situations he creates if they happen, and he has more pitches in the tank this way on the back end. I even think it's ok in some or even most situations, it almost always works for him, but if the 5th batter of the inning is the one guy you don't want to see if at all possible (SINCE HE HAS ALREADY HIT TWO HRS OFF 97 FROM A LEFTY AND HE'D BE COMING UP WITH TWO GUYS ON), you need to maybe get word to Chapman to amp it up a bit more than usual before coming in and make sure he gets three of the first four guys. Maybe they even did that, who knows.

lol now I have you shouting...I fully confess I'm biased against great stupid jocks, like Bellchick I prefer smarter guys. Yes it's a bit of a simplification, but mostly Champan's only approach sure seems like 'me throw harder' and it drives me nuts. serenity now....
