Porcello — still — has a near-elite spin rate on the four-seamer and the curve. But that up-and-down approach that they made work so amazingly in his Cy Young season just doesn't work if he only has 89-90 on the fastball instead of 92-93. But he's a guy who has been in the major leagues since he was barely 20, so although he's only 30, he's thrown almost 2000 IP.

I think he's just old.

Did Spier just disagree with Cora on the aggressiveness issue? "It's not in their DNA."
Meanwhile, Rick Porcello is looking the picture of mediocrity.
He did, and I think he's right.

And this stuff he's saying about Sale's release point is really good.

Tonight my daughter asked if we could put the Red Sox on the radio and play cribbage which made me pretty happy. A Red Sox win would make me even happier.
