Hoping Voit is back and Encarnacion (a .547 OPS in 72 PAs for NY) wakes up for this one, hoping for both but I will be happy with either.

Voit will be back tomorrow, not today. We get the A defensive infield tonight:

LeMahieu 1B
Judge RF
Hicks CF
Sanchez C
Encarnacíon DH
Gregorius SS
Torres 2B
Urshela 3B
Gardner LF

By Aug. 4, we will be able to judge the AL East. After Toronto, Yanks host Tampa and Rockies, 3 at Twins, 4 at Red Sox, D-Backs, 4 at home with Boston. And then the Orioles come in to drag down the neighborhood.

German is very likely NY's best pitcher right now. I see way too many fan suggestions of including him in a deal for a more proven SP, and unless that SP is named Max Scherzer (zero chance he will be dealt), presumably Cashman is smarter than that.

Hearing some pessimism about Seve from the YES crew and others. It’s getting late.
These two are not the sharpest blades in the box, Cashman said today it would take him about six weeks to fully ramp up which still leaves them around Sept 1. No real update from what we heard last, that means.

There should be no easier pitch to call than an offspeed pitch that floats outside, never a strike at any point.

Hasn’t started throwing yet. That is troublesome.

Betances is the guy I want back, then even Boone can't use everyone in the same game (that is not a dare, Aaron).

Hard to believe German did not make the all-star team. One bad stretch of 4 games, probably due to pitching with injury that sent him to IL.

Sanchez losing his edge. DJ gets the run in, then Judge and Hicks follow with line drive hits. Second and third, one out in fifth.

EE with a 3-run double. Sanchez scores from first. He legged out a double earlier, getting to second in 8.70 seconds, according to AWS stats.

NY Post update to what you heard. Cashman leaves open possibility of Seve in bullpen. Also mentions Garcia pushing himself into the mix.

IMO that article jumps to the wrong conclusion, I think Greinke is the guy Cashman is targeting over Ray there. It really depends how ARI plays the next few weeks, they might not be sellers.

Wouldn't have minded another inning from German, but the bullpen guys have been resting a while, I guess.

Gardner has taken an extra base on a triple and double tonight and also went to throw when the catcher tried to pick him off and Biggio failed to catch the throw. Ball deflected into short center.
Now Gardner guns out Vladimir Jr. at second.
Gardner is putting on a baseball clinic tonight, as good as we have seen him.

Kahnle gets out of it with a big assist from Brett and the TOR manager.

He is close to his highest OPS ever for a season, easily his best slugging percentage ever as of now.

I would rather dance with who brung me. Go with the current starters, get Seve back, Betances, roll the dice. None of the names mentioned are aces.

Greinke is. He has a 2.73 ERA and a 0.918 WHIP currently, he is a great fielder, a good hitter (it barely matters but still), and he is a tested veteran who has been an ace for a long time now.

Would you say that about Scherzer too? Greinke did dominate in the AL too, admittedly a while back.

I am a bit more skeptical of NL West numbers because of the pitchers’ parks out there.

Hey,, great win tonight. Lot to like. Pitching, smart base-running, timely hitting. And hustle.

If the Red Sox hold on, the Yankees will have the best record in MLB, by percentage points over the Dodgers.

Breyvic Valera back down to AAA, and our boy Luke Voit is officially back. NY was 5-3 with him out.
