When the starter gets hurt in the fifth inning, Cora doesn’t have enough quality relievers to NOT use one or more bad ones. Get Whitlock and Taylor back and things should go more smoothly.

totally agree but they still need at least another arm beyond guys already part of the organization. Just way too many unreliable arms to carry in a tough division (saw, Robles, diekman etc)

Whitlock might be a few weeks away from returning to the pen. I've a feeling he stays in the rotation until Sale returns, especially if Hill is injured. That said Taylor alone should be a huge boost if he's healthy and pitches as he's previously pitched.

It's quite possible, but I've not seen anything definite about a move to the pen upon his return. I know that the general consensus had once been that there would be an eventual move back in an effort to cap his innings for the season, but that the move would likely happen with the return of Sale, Paxton and Eovaldi. Heres an article from three days ago with Cora's most recent thoughts on the matter.
