I was at a Celtics game early one day and I was walking around near the court. With a friendly voice I yelled “hey Mike Breen” and when he looked right at me from about 15 feet away I yelled “you really suck.”
I love this so much. Thank you for your service!

Absolutely loved Spears contrasting this team with ‘08…they were crazy motherfuckers.

I know he's not a "traditional PG" on this team but zero TO is still nuts for a guy who sees A LOT of the ball to start up the offense

What a terrible turn of events for me. Power went out 10 minutes before tip after wife heard a loud bang. Fired up the generator and internet was still up until 13-6. I saw some emergency vehicles go by and drove 1/2 mile up the road where it had been blocked off. CMP had a 10 pm restoration time and spectrum had 9, but by 9:30 I bailed on my family and headed to a buddy's house for the second half. Just worst case scenario, but they were in total control and I don't even have the urge to watch the first half immediately.

Three generations of Trappers watched the game last night (my mom, me, and my boy), and when it was over, I declared, “The Boston Celtics remain undefeated in Game B’s!”

My son smiled and rolled his eyes while my mom looked at me like I was nuts.

Only B more games and the title is ours…

It’s a little unfair to Marcus for me to keep comparing him to Jrue but it’s really the perfect encapsulation of why this team has been steamrolling through these playoffs.

Do I believe Marcus would bleed out on the court for a win? Yes, yes I do. But is that what the team needs? No, I’ll take the steady hand who never seems to put a foot wrong thank you very much.

There was a lot of talk at the time Jrue was brought in that he could be prone to some wild turnovers and had struggled shooting in the playoffs.

I wonder if the makeup of this team (ie a stud at every position) is mitigating some of that. The need for high risk plays just isn’t there because any given straightforward pass is going to a guy who can do something great with it.

Bob Myers is just the worst. No insight, no charisma, no energy.
And by sort of tongue-in-cheeking that Brad Stevens is the *real* MVP, he wants to remind/convince people that it was actually Myers that was responsible for those GSW titles.

It looked like they were waiting until a certain player got the ball before they fouled, but then realized that certain player wasn't one of the 5 on the court.
I assume you were being facetious here but I went back to watch the final minute. (The final 5 on the court was the exact same as had been on the court ever since KP subbed out around the 5 minute mark.)

But what I noticed on the rewatch is that on the final basket of the game, when JB zooms around Kleber, Luka was in perfect position to help, ideally by simply stepping in to draw a charge, but instead he merely Ole's as JB glides by for an easy, uncontested layup.

Marcus really wanted to win and gave everything to the Cs. For that, I will always be a Smart-stan.

But the clear fact of the matter is that Marcus is a good player (kind of an average-ish to above-average, based on year, injuries, etc.). Jrue is all-NBA level.

I’ll kinda give Luka the benefit of the doubt on getting out of the way of Jaylen because Luka supposedly got his latest injury (thoracic, or chest) when Jaylen knocked him on his ass in game 1. I think Luka got a blocking foul out of it.

How many of the Cs do you think would get out of the way as opposed to trying to take a charge? Any?

Hell, JMazz would try to take a charge if he were out there.

Good point but those of us who watched the GOAT in football saw him go to the ground once in a while if he couldn’t get rid of the ball rather than get blasted by a Von Milker type. Hate to put LD in the same paragraph with TB.

A random drive in the middle of a game is one thing; a play that might very well determine if your team goes down 2-0 in the Finals is something else. Context matters.

Really enjoyed the whole video but especially the repeated look at Jaylen dunking on Luka, literally and figuratively, starting at :55 there.

That is.............bad.

I've seen traffic cones play better defense; love the one clip where Kyrie shoves him towards whoever he was trying to defend, more of a "get out of my way" moment.
Maybe Luka was the chair Danny got to defend Markelle Fultz in his pre-draft workout

I almost started feeling bad for Luka. He is continuously hunted and getting blown by with such frequency it must be demoralizing. He puts so little effort into defense it is laughable.
If it were demoralizing, he wouldn't be pointing fingers at his teammates.

Luka's been a star since he was something like 12 years old. He's won a lot. From what I recall of his draft analysis, he's basically always played defense like this. Thing was, he was so much better than everyone else he could figure out how to win and not play defense.

However, at the end of the day, the film doesn't lie and if someone sits down with him and shows him, maybe he'll realize that he actually has to play both ends of the floor to win in the NBA (and put in the work to figure out how to defend - it's not just going to happen with some additional effort). Maybe someone can do an intervention with him (and after that with Dame and Trae Young and etc. etc.etc.).

Maybe.

My daughter points out that half of them were like 75% effort “blow byes.” As in, the guy with the ball isn't exactly putting his foot on the gas to turn the corner.

If it were demoralizing, he wouldn't be pointing fingers at his teammates.

I think the issue, as with a lot of these guys, is do they actually want to put in the work to win a title? Or are they satisfied with being "one of the best guys ever to play basketball"? In the Jays' case, the answer is yes, they want to do the work. But the NBA is littered with guys across its history who were world class athletes and incredible offensive players but didn't really put any effort in on the other end of the court (I'm thinking Carmelo being one).
