I have to ask...I’m not a huge hockey fan but I love the playoffs so I don’t have a ton of exposure to hockey announcers but......is Pierre McGuire the worst announcer in all of sports?
I watch these games and legitimately think I know more about hockey than him

Maybe obvious, maybe not

is a power play split across two periods “diminished”? Ie the odds of scoring reduced if the period break is in the middle? I assume yes, tried googling to see if the stats backed it up, couldn’t fine it

Ice should be "better" (relatively speaking)

He used to be decent but has become more and more a font of inanity over the years.

Depends on the split. Fresh ice is good.

I’m 51 years old, lived in the Northeast my entire life, and I’ll talk hockey with any mammal with a heartbeat, and I don’t think I’ve ever met an Islander fan.

I think it must be the smallest fan base or close to it, geographically speaking. Mostly restricted to LI/Queens, and doesn’t really extend beyond that. I live in northern NJ and work in Manhattan (in normal times) and easily know/see more Boston gear on the average day. Even the Mets/Jets fans I know are more likely to have the Rangers as their hockey team.
