Good job by Tauchman cutting that ball off and keeping Bradley at 3rd.

Wright back in, let's see if his knuckler works today or if we can add on.

Just seems like the field is bigger and balls keep falling in open areas. In Fenway left and Yankee Stadium right, there is little room to cover. We see bloops at home but not ones where fielders are 15 feet away.

The field isn't bigger (the lines are at the same angle and the fences aren't too far away), it's mostly that the outfielders can't read the ball very well because of the shitty backdrops everywhere and they are getting late jumps.

The one thing the British audience is learning is that, unlike footie, comebacks from what appear to be insurmountable leads can happen in baseball. It virtually never happens in soccer
Does it really happen in baseball? I don't know, 99 out of 100 times a 4 run lead is very very safe.

Chapman struck out the last three guys on 11 pitches, Coup. Good enough for you this time? :)

Is Jess a Yankee fan or not?
At this point? I think I'm converted full-time. Love to see the game succeed and watch any/all 30 teams, but there's one with a priority.

The announcing was a special brand of dumb today. Welcoming in Chapman to England today when he fucking went yesterday is unreal. You are paid to cover this specific series, and forget a material detail like that??

I'm going to take my crosspond flight, sleep on this, then focus on the Subway Series.

Great. Because this team has a penchant for amazing stats, your expertise is really helpful. Think of yourself as Abbey’s bench coach.
We all have roles on the Yankee Game threads. Crow is like the oldest kid who keeps pissing his father off. Me and Coup provide perspective and a dose of negativity. Wingack is the voice of reason. Evil Empire walks guard, protecting our perimeter. Semper Fi drops in to say everything sucks. Shiner and Cromulence are spot starters, waiting for one of the old guys to drop.
It’s still a small team with room for more players.

Only the 7th time the Yankees have scored 12+ in consecutive games against Boston. In 1932 and 2006, they did so three games in a row.

Heh, perfect.

Combined line today for Tarpley/Adams, who were both in Scranton a week ago: 1.2 9 8 8 0 0
Combined line for the other 5 NY pitchers: 7.1 6 0 0 1 8

Alex Cora on the Yankees sweep over the Red Sox:

"It was eye opening, the last two days, from top to bottom. Right now, they're a lot better than us.''

Cora on the Yankees:

"They're a lot better team than last year. I was joking with someone that their biggest offseason acquisition was Carlos Beltran."

i am worred about the starting rotation in the playoffs the bullpen can not go 5 innings every game
Sure they can, Green is back to being really good, we know about Kahnle/Ottavino/Britton/Chapman, and Betances should be back before too long.

i hope u are right i would like storman from tor he would be a perfect Yankee
It seems like a good fit both ways, and Stroman (from Long Island) would love to play for NY, but I hope if it happens, Cashman can do it without including Clint because I don't want to face him 19 times a year.

Mets getting out all of their frustration in this final inning against ATL, 5 runs in the 8th to turn a 5-3 deficit to a 8-5 lead. McNeil and Alonso are both awesome.

Any updates on Severino and German?
German started in AAA on Thursday and will start for NY on Wed or Thurs, which is doubly big as it gives NY 5 starters again and moves Green back to the bullpen.

Severino had a setback and is shut down for a bit again, they are hoping for him in late August now.

Thing is, I don’t really like when organizations keep players in the minors who are ready to play. For that reason, I’d love to see Clint get a full-time gig somewhere because he will never be more than a backup here.

I am happy to trade him for the right SP, I just would prefer it be outside the AL East. I do think ATL might be a good match, they have tons of pitchers on the brink and then they could put Clint in LF next year, move Riley back to 3B and let Donaldson go.

Also Clint is a bit like Andujar, the bat is legit but if the defense isn't at least adequate, he loses a lot of value. I think it was a lot more clear that Andujar was/is not going to be adequate defensively, but Clint's big league numbers so far have been pretty terrible too.

Voit onto the IL with that abdominal strain, the red-hot Mike Ford back up. No word yet on how severe the Voit thing is, but from what they were saying Sunday, I'm guessing they're just being careful and giving him the week off, six games this week and then he would be eligible to be back after the ASB.

Ford has been crushing AAA all year, .318/.426/.650, 166 wRC+. 19 homers, 15 doubles and 50 RBIs in 59 games. Nice to see him get another shot, he should get some DH ABs with Encarnacion at 1B.

Yeah, I messaged her but not around yet, I guess...

Mets activated a flood of relievers for tonight, Familia, Justin Wilson, and Avilan all back.
