By now a Yankee hitter would have been knocked down if they gave a shit, but not with these guys. However, if they tried to knock down a Yankee hitter they probably would miss. So just take your total beating Sox and then have Cora talk about how great this is for MBL to play in London. What a total embarrassment to this franchise.

The funny thing is, typically worst case scenarios don't play out in sports. Like, what you expect is usually not what happens.

But this is exactly what I feared would happen.

This is such a fitting outcome, really, for what (I imagine) Red Sox ownership and organization hoped would be a showcase event for the sport and for this season.
First, ownership, by agreeing to cast this London spectacle as a pair of "home games" (rather than what would have been a fair split with New York), signaled (I believe) an implicit disdain for any effort on the players' part to create a professionally competitive season. And since, owners and Dombrowski have made no discernible effort to shore up what is clearly an inadequate bullpen as the season has progressed. I'm enraged. Not at the players nor at Cora, but at ownership and management.
I'm sorry if this post comes across as an only semi-informed hot-take. To those who will respond "What would you do to shore up the bullpen?" I will freely admit I am not adequately informed. But as a fan of many years, I have rarely been so disgusted with the organization. There are so many fierce competitors, so many truly talented players, so many admirable figures, on this team. And their efforts are being squandered.

They’ve got Chapman, Britton, Ottavino.
We’ve got Barnes, Brasier and Workman.

They picked up LeMahieu and Encarnacion
We promoted Chavis and resigned Pence.

That pretty much explains it.

They had money to play with, we didn't. And the money we had wasn't well spent. Gotta tip your cap to these asshats.

That pitch for ball 4 had way more lateral movement than the ESPN graphic showed.

What the everloving fuck is the umpire looking at? I mean, I like the result and all.
