"Yankees have 3 comeback wins when trailing by 5+ runs this season, tied for the most in MLB.

Last year had only 1 comeback win when trailing 5+ runs the entire season."

"The Yankees go 9-1 (or better) on a homestand for the first time since July 2009. Before that was August 1998."

Those previous two seasons ended up nicely.

They had just a 1/2 game lead when this homestand started, things can flip quickly but have to like this team if they stay healthy and get German and Betances and Severino back.

Stanton to the IL with a PCL strain, Tauchman will replace him, Thairo is the 26th man for London, Higashioka and Chance Adams are the additional two players coming (sorry, Clint).

I missed a few innings in the middle of this game, going back and watching now and I notice that Kingham was already warming in the 5th.

Running away.

This is the type of thing that can happen when you win six out of seven against the next two best teams in the league. Now they can pile up wins against teams like the Jays, and it makes it hard for them to catch up.

Astoria
If the Twins have the best record, there's a good chance we play the Astros in the first round which could be beneficial. If I had to pick today, I would do Astros then Twins.

Well, the pitchers can use the rest, I think it's interesting how NY is trying to use all these off days to set up their pitching how they want. The ASB starts after next weekend also, so combined with this NY plays 8 times in 14 days.

Domingo German threw his scheduled 65 pitches in a AAA game last night, he was very good in 3 of his 4 innings and hammered in the other. His quotes after made it sound like he was very happy with the outing though, and he also said he was told NY plans to start him next Wed against the Mets, so I think the plan is something like this:

Sat in London against BOS: Tanaka (6 days rest)
Sun in London against BOS: bullpen game (presumably Green/Cortes Jr?) (4 days rest)

Tues @NYM: Paxton (5 days rest)
Wed @NYM: German (5 days rest from his 65 pitches in AAA)
Thurs @TB: Happ (10 days rest)
Fri @TB: Sabathia (10 days rest)
Sat @TB: Tanaka (5 days rest)
Sun @TB: Paxton (4 days rest)

Not sure about all of that, but that's my guess.

Lance Lynn with 8 scoreless innings tonight for the red-hot Rangers to beat TB and tie them for the top wild card position at 46-36. TB has played 36 innings since NY's last game Wednesday afternoon (9/18/9) and gone 1-2, NY back to a 7 game lead and 8 in the loss column.

TB just got a wave of much-needed reinforcements though in Yandy Diaz (off the IL), Jose Alvarado (back from dealing with personal issues) and two-way threat Brendan McKay, the 4th overall pick in 2017, who was rocking a 1.08 ERA in 25 innings in AAA as well as a .951 OPS in 59 PAs, who is scheduled to start today.
