The Guardians have played so well lately that they lead the AL Central by a slight margin, completing a road trip of winning all their series at the Rockies, the Dodgers(!) and Twins. Looking at the results, like the Red Sox they have not lost a series in a long time, it seems the last time is at the Tigers at the end of May.

They still have their usual solid pitching, but the offense has been much better than expected (after a super dead first ~15 games, which was the expected) with the likes of superhuman Jose Ramirez, rookie Steven Kwan, and Clevinger return piece Josh Naylor (Quantrill is also from the Clevinger trade, Guardians seem to have made out really well relative to other big selloff trades recently), among others. This is a pretty interesting matchup / measuring stick as the easy schedule starts to taper off (still got the Cubbies next weekend).

I'm going to assume just a day off for X... thought he talked his way out of that on Wednesday, but maybe Cora forced it today.

Agreed. I assume this is the compromise for him starting on Wednesday. Cora wanted him to get two consecutive days off, probably preferred it to come against the weaker team, but Bogaerts chose this instead.

There are 15 former Red Sox players in the Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame. You'll never get them all without looking it up ... a few are quite obscure.

I'll start the list with a tough one:

1. Pedro Martinez

I'm only half-watching the game, but every time I look up I think that the Sox are in red and Cleveland is in navy blue.

Fergie Jenkins is one, I think.
