Looking forward to Downs and Dalbec (defensively)

Vazquez played first not that long ago this season and did a very good job. I am most concerned with Downs. So long as he throws the ball in the vicinity of first, Vaz should get it, but he doesn't have the reach, obviously, of Dalbec. Dalbec will be fine at third, judging by past appearances. I wish this were a day game. I could use some distraction. But since both the Sox and the Tigers have off-days for travelling, it's not necessary, darn it.

Downs is supposed to be solid defensively. I don't think he'll be a concern out there.

At the plate is a different story.

If Downs gets on base once, by any means, I'll send $100 to the Jimmy Fund. Lose-lose for charity. I'd be happily surprised to pay it.

SSS, but he's been on base in nearly of his PAs. Cora probably hoping that he and Duran can set the table for the others.
Getting experience for their next job as waiters at Yard House may be a good idea.

Because Devers is getting a day off?
Hmmm I read a tweet somewhere on here that it was both Devers and X. My bad. Still win.

oh yeah the tweet is right up top of the thread. Glad X is coming at us! I should pay attention more better

It was reported last night that X was talking his way into the lineup after last night's game.

Apparently Raffys elbow isn't 100% (surely the one that's been HBP a ton in the past week) and with the lefty going, this day off was planned for awhile.

Before tonight, here were Baez' career numbers vs. the Red Sox:

27 pa, 25 ab, .360/.407/.800/1.207, 3 2b, 1 3b, 2 hr

So yeah, he has owned Boston in a small sample size.
