Gardner hitting well lately really helps this lineup. Only two struggling hitters in tonight's lineup instead of four or five. And pitchers can't use the sticky stuff anymore. Let's see what Cole and all the others can do on their own. Tyler Glasnow, take a few weeks off.

Gary pinch hit for Higgy, stays in of course to catch Cole, who has a clean inning, hits 100 on one pitch. Gotta check the spin rate totals after the game.

I can't watch this game locally for some reason and am following along on the espn gamecast. Which shows two outs but now seems frozen. Review at third or something? Home?

Lots of high drama, second and third and no one out with Vlad at third, a comebacker to Chapman who throws home too soon so Vlad tries to get back to third before Sanchez's throw. He made a sweet move and it was super close, very hard to tell.

Then there is a Sanchez play that is too hard to describe quickly.

Come on Chapman, one more 101.

Pretty surprised he didn't let Cole go batter to batter in the 9th, will elaborate later.

Wow! Second and third and no one out and I thought to myself "I still feel confident somehow with Chapman out there". NY really did not deserve to win that, I think Sanchez almost certainly whiffed on that ball, but we will take it.

What is the bolded in relation to? Was there a different crazy play than the one where Vlad got hosed at third?

Yes, a pitch or two later, the batter swung through a pitch and almost certainly missed it entirely. It nicked the top of Sanchez's glove, hit Bucknor and went to the backstop. Gary immediately reacted as if it was a foul tip and went to help Bucknor, Bucknor called it a dead ball, the Blue Jays runners very slowly circled the bases (no rush since no one was trying to retrieve the ball), but after ump consultation, everyone was sent back to their bases.

Ahh, that explains the long delay on my AtBat app after an 0-1 pitch. I just assumed the app was being glitchy.
