Oily legs, at this point.

Steven Matz was traded from the Mets to Toronto, and one of the pitchers involved in the trade was our own Josh Winckowski. Make of that what you will.

It's a boring day for baseball birthdays. The only Sox guy on the list is Damon Buford, son of Don Buford. Damon Buford went to the same high school as me. He graduated in 1988, so it's safe to say he trod in the same outfield where I plied my trade 16 years earlier. Did he learn everything he knew from me? No, he did not.

One interesting guy with a birthday, though. Bitsy Mott was the starting shortstop for the Phillies in 1945 as a 27 year old rookie, his only year in the majors. '45 was a weird year of course, as so many ballplayers were away in the service. Bitsy hit .221 and was replaced in '46 with Skeeter Newsome, who was the Sox shortstop during the war. Bitsy kept trying though, and appeared in minor league games as late as 1957.

It's what he did after his baseball career ended, though. Bitsy Mott was Elvis Presley's bodyguard.

He's the guy with the cigar in the 2nd photo.

Here's an interview with him after Elvis' death: https://www.newspapers.com/clip/2688491/bitsy-mott-death-of-presley/

I don't know about you, but this kind of thing is exactly why baseball is so cool. You just never know.

Thank you very much. I happened to know this time, but I don't always.
That was an entertaining opening post.

So much fun last night. Maybe Arroyo is good? Certainly good enough to supplant KH at lead-off.
Although he may lack KH's genius for confusing opponent SSs by hitting right to them.

If anyone knows anything about Remy, please post here..

I don't know, Elvis has Bittsy in front of him where he can see him, instead of letting him "have his back". Kind of a shaky looking character? Great research though, Coachster.

Fenway pretty happening 2 hours before. (Not going in just seeing how things are, changes etc)
Fenway security and parking have masks and some vendors but no one else really. Even the partial outdoor small jersey/hat places don’t have any.

Nothing good comes of pitching to this guy.
He needs to get The Barry Bonds treatment more often. Speaking of Bonds; my sister texted me today that barry Bonds was flying First Class (of course) on her flight today. She is a flight attendant for United. Hope she got an autograph for me!

Stop throwing meatball to Guerrero. It's pretty stupid they keep letting him beat them

I dont think they're sneaking their way out of a loss this time. Pivetta cant locate, Vaz tries to make a play the pitcher should have...

One hell of a throw and a great tag by Vaz to make up for the dropped ball. Nice.

Seems that every game goes the same way these days.

We give up runs to fall behind early.
We somehow get out of an inning when we should fall further behind.
We slowly mount a slow comeback.

It is an odd way to run a season, but it makes for entertaining games - at least in the later innings.
