The Yankees get to see another old friend today, lefty pitcher, J.A. Happ. I don't think the J.A. stands of "Jon Abbey". It might stand for "Justifiably Annoyed" after the Yankees made damn sure his $17 million option didn't vest last year. For those who may not remember, he needed 10 starts and 62 innings for that option and didn't get much of a chance to get it.

So what does that mean? Will Happ have an extra large chip on his shoulder and pitch the game of his life? Sure, that could happen. But he has two things working against him: 1) he's J.A. Happ and 2) he plays for the Twins.

Now obviously the Yankees are gettable. And who knows what King will have when he takes the mound. But I do like their chances.

Annoyed maybe but definitely not justifiably, he gave up 8 ERs in 7 innings in his first two starts in 2020 and then they skipped him two out of the next three turns and that was enough to not trigger the option.

He signed with MIN for 1/8 and has had 10 starts, the first 5 a 1.91 ERA and the last 5 (since May 12) a 10.17 ERA.

Eh. I think it was both reasonable for Happ to be angry as well as for the Yankees to do what they did. It's a tough business.

8:10 start and no lineups. Always bothers me when they wait this long but part of me thinks its due to sensitivity of Stanton's injuries.

As expected, hitters are making good contact off of Happ. Not everything is dropping of course, but the bats are keeping up with what we've seen over the last couple of games. Seems promising.

Gittens missed his first hit and home run by about a foot or so.

He reminds me at the plate a little bit like Chris Carter. He's African American sure, but also a RHB, seems about the same size/build (big), and I like the way the ball jumps off his bat.

Hope he is better at making consistent contact though.

Chapman has thrown 12 pitches in the last week, he could hopefully get more than three outs if needed.

What a great throw.

His reads and routes will improve with more innings out there. I think he's trainable.

Edit: Meant to say he's got something to build off of.

I did call the Ryan Braun career path for Miggy as a rookie, an entire rookie year at 3B and then never again, off to LF or 1B.
