Have to think this is Hayes anti-counter attack tactic. Japan ripped Spain at the WC by playing exactly into those spaces and did it again in the opening match here, though Spain were much more aggressive with the Pep-ball tactical foul to stop counters.

I remember when the Colombian women looked like they didn't belong on the same field as the USA, just had nobody who could win a ball or read a play on us.
