KC has won 15 of their last 17. Not a great time to be playing them.
At least there aren't any off-field distractions for the players to get dragged into!

I think it's the perfect time for some KC regression, and thankfully they'll be playing baseball instead of talking to Boston Media.

A game thread is the perfect place to share this meaningless hot take: the Sox are talented but not always focused on executing the little things, so they'll play to the level of their competition...playing worse against the bad teams and their best against the good teams. Let's keep winning and show that they can beat anyone.

I like it. And will accept.

it’s crazy that the ALC probably has 2-3 teams that would be in the mix in the ALE this season.

They DID all get to play the worst team in 100 years like 2 dozen times.

Granted we've managed a losing record to that very same team but nevertheless...
The point is, people might well have underestimated how good the teams actually were because of the White Sox angle. People shouldn't be surprised that they're playing well again in comparison to an ALEast that has three teams in a funk and the Red Sox teetering

Detroit is legit this season.
Cleveland always solid.
KC improved.
I just think any of those teams would be competitive in the ALE this season… but any of them in there last season and I don’t think they make the playoffs

Competent defensive play. Touch grass and go join in on the awful mainboard threads if you wanna spew some absurd whining.

Game 40: Sox at Royals
Sox won, but before we left Boston soil,
Devers dropped comments that made fans recoil.
Some claim he’s a diva, and he’ll embroil
the team in bad press. Some say he’s a foil
for Brelow’s bad moves. Some say he’s not loyal
to other players. Some say he should toil
to try and win games. Some say this may boil
over and cause big distractions that spoil
all our momentum. Forget this turmoil!
Let’s not be a squeaky wheel that needs oil.
Just win tonight or the pain will be royal.

Royals are my #2 team--big George Brett fan and college classmate of their current manager--but, please beat the crap out of them.

Way way back in a former life, I dealt with a fair number of MLB players. Brett was an absolutely great guy, fun to have a beer and talk baseball with.
I love to hear this because it is exactly what he seems like. Plus, man I don't think I've ever seen anyone as mad on a baseball field as he was in the pine tar incident and I simultaneously get it and find footage of it so endlessly funny.

Just thinking of the expression on his face when he was called out still cracks me up.

Color me thrilled to see Mike Monaco. I had mistakenly thought the Sox had lost him to another franchise. He and Middlebrooks should be more than bearable, i.e., not mutable.

It's tremendous. And one of the few examples of the umps screwing up so badly a protest was upheld, and since it turned a HR into the final out of the game, they had to finish the game weeks later. Peak baseball.

I was born in KC, bu moved up to NH when my dad got transferred to Hanscomb, so the Royals were big with my older siblings, George Brett in particular. And that did rub off on me. Still remember watching the pivotal world series game 6 at a Mexican restaurant in Nashua.
