Justin Haley earned his first victory of the season with five shutout frames, giving up three hits, two walks, and a hit by pitch while whiffing five. Brandon Workman worked three perfect innings, striking out a trio. Bobby Poyner yielded a single in his ninth inning appearance.

Rusney Castillo was the catalyst for the Sox with three singles in four trips, also stealing a base. Mike Olt obtained a single and a walk in four matchups. Jordan Betts and Dan Butler each took a base on balls and belted a sacrifice fly in four jaunts. Jeremy Barfield walked once in three attempts. Ivan De Jesus earned a free pass in four opportunities. Aneury Tavarez and Mike Miller were each unable to reach in three appearances. Ramon Flores suffered four futile forays.

Matt Kent was knocked for two runs on two hits and four walks over 2 2/3 innings; striking out three. Yankory Pimentel yielded eight runs (seven earned) on five hits – including dingers from Yonathan Daza and Brendan Rodgers – and four walks; whiffing three and uncorking a wild pitch in two innings. Trey Ball surrendered two runs on two solo roundtrippers from Rodgers and Ryan Metzler over 2 1/3 innings, allowing another three singles while striking out one. Adam Lau relinquished a double, tossed a wild pitch, and whiffed one in the eighth.

Tony Renda and Josh Ockimey each obtained two hits in four treks; Ockimey with a three-run jack, Renda with a stolen base. Josh Tobias, Tate Matheny, and Cole Sturgeon each struck a hit in four jaunts; Matheny with a triple, Sturgeon with a double. Conrad Gregor extended his hitless streak for the season but reached twice in four attempts with a walk and a hit by pitch. Jhon Nunez notched two walks in four opportunities. Luke Tendler was unable to reach in four tries. Jeremy Rivera stuck out twice in his five frustrating forays.
