Nobody Cares
Philadelphia. There's a lot, a lot of culture there. Tonight begins a 3-game set with the red-hot Red Sox descending upon the City of Brotherly Love and their struggling Phillies. The resurgent Chris Sale toes the slab for Boston, hoping to build on his 6.1-inning 3-hit 1-run gem against Cleveland. Zack Wheeler goes for the Phillies, and while his numbers look solid, he can be rattled. The Sox have hit their stride, winners of 6 straight and mashing everything in sight. It's been a fun ride, and I, for one, am thankful for what we got.

Chaim Bloom was right. This IS awesome!

Yoshida should get to meet his baseball idol Bryce Harper tonight, he will be excited.

Dave Dombrowski will get another close-up look at Chris Sale, the guy he gave big money to through his age 35 season.

And Justin Turner will be in town, will he have a meetup with Gritty? Maybe at a family reunion of some kind?

All the Boston fans in Philly to watch the Celtics and Red Sox might want to also check out some live music. Philadelphia has had some great rock concerts over the years, and Philly Boy Roy has been to most of them:

A good friend and I try to get good tickets to Sox at Phils every year, and this year she scored Hall of Fame Club box seats directly behind home plate, first row of the 2nd level for tonight’s game. I’m pretty excited to see Sale pitch in person from this vantage point. I saw Lester from a similar spot in Baltimore awhile back and it was awesome. The scene should be wild there tonight with the Celts playing right next door and plenty of Boston fans in this area. I’ll try to get video of any fights that break out.

Game 34
A great game from guys with B’s on their hats.
We broke out the brooms and brought our big bats.
The Jays so-called ace left us undeterred.
We ripped 16 hits and leapt into third.
The relentless Sox, who show no fatigue,
and now have the third most wins in the league,
head to The City of Brotherly Love,
as do the Celtics, and I’m not above
hoping that both of the bouts become routs
with Boston bestowing brutal blowouts.
If that sounds sadistic, punish my sins.
It’s a hell of a night. Let’s get two wins.

Bostonish...see Wiki for "ish"
hoping that both of the bouts become routs
this is so wonderful.

So @LynnRice75I have been meaning to say, my dad was a singer and he and his buddies used to take songs and turn them into “stunts” jostling friends and families with rhymes that made us all laugh and feel admiring of his abilities. He was kind of famous in his small circle. You are the first person I can say has that superpower! Your rhymes are so good.

Verdugo is out of the starting lineup. Anything to worry about here with back-to-back days off?

"A couple of Boston's batters have given Wheeler trouble in the past as well. Red Sox third baseman Justin Turner has a .500 batting average against Wheeler, hitting 4-for-8 with a homer, and left fielder Raimel Tapia is batting .400 in his career facing the Phillies starter."http://hosted.stats.com/mlb/preview.asp?g=430505122

We're five wins in three days away from helping Philly become the single most actively peeved sports city in the known universe. They secretly like it that way. Everybody wins.

The Feelies (despite being from NJ....and northern NJ which is more NY than PA) should be acknowledged much more than they are. Their first three albums are just great and pretty damned good stuff after that.
Preach. Just saw them two weeks ago in Cambridge. They still bring it. Nobody raves up like the Feelies.

Is it me or have there been an curious amount of these moments where the Sox happen to play a team the same time as the Bruins/ Celtics play their counterparts in the playoffs the last few years?

This has been a weird year. Thoughts and prayers to the person down in the bullpen
