To me it looks like Maldonado hit Odor's thigh more than his knee, but maybe that is wishful thinking.

Meanwhile NY got a huge break there, three runs on a dribbler.

Yeah, that's the way it looked to me too. Upper thigh. Sort of thing that could really hurt because of the mask, but maybe not linger for more than a couple of days.

Fingers crossed.

Odor gave himself up for the third run. Gotta love the way he never hesitated or tried to step around the plate. He stepped right on the plate while absorbing contact from the catcher. That was good football!

Odor and Clint out, Wade and Gardner in.

Impressive FB to blow away Correa from our boy Jonny L.

It was a mess, the bat was in the way, the ump was kind of in the way, the ball got loose from the catcher, cats and dogs living together...

Yeah, I like this guy. Tough kid.

Still can't believe he's only 27.

Loaisiga with just 9 pitches to get through the 7th, leave him for at least one more.

Bregman probably should not have thrown the ball to first. DJ appeared across the bag well before the ball arrived. But Stanton’s single would have plated two more so maybe Bregman only cost them one run.

Hicks walks.

Bregman is my least favorite Astro, if you haven’t noticed. He’s like a rooster, strutting around the bases, yapping in the dugout.

Pieces starting to fit together for Boone. Everything looks better when you’re winning. But I like Wade as a late-inning player, running and fielding.

This cycle discussion in the booth brings parallels to the history of Lou Gehrig’s first cycle on June 25th, 1934. He hit for it, sure, but the only reason it happened is because he was thrown out at home going for an inside the parker, hence the triple.

A game like this is as solid a reminder ever that mean reversion should be expected and to not trust the fallacies of small sample sizes. Not here, people are rock stars, but moreso the fan base at large.
We used to say “wait until the weather warms up.” But mean reversion works, too. You young ones have stats for everything!

Ridiculous umpire tonight, has to be one of the few worst called games so far this season.

Joe Torre often spoke of watching a team develop an identity as each season progressed. These Yankees lead with their pitching. Stanton was the offense tonight but the at bats are looking better.
