Let me say this: Fuck Jaylen Brown. I have nothing but respect for him off the court, but him as a basketball player is so selfish and delusional. 9 turnovers? drivbling and losing the ball? Jacking ip random threes? Send this loser to Detroit and let’s see how much of an alpha he is.
If he’s on the team next year, I’m not watching them because they won’t get anywhere with him. he’s a loser.

I go the other way. Against some of the off court “activism” but think he is goor At basketball. He had a bad game when Miami keyed on him and it sucks that it happened.

Either Mazzulla or somebody above him must have had an issue with Grant because he started getting benched back in March. So his usage in this series wasn’t that surprising.

Is there a reason Hauser was buried on the bench in the playoffs? I get the sense if he were on the Heat’s roster, he would have been a useful piece.
Who would you have subbed him for? I mean, how you can give Hauser minutes when the guy ahead him has a torn tendon in his shooting arm?
But yeah, I agree and I felt he could have been helpful even before Brogdon's injury, but the fact that he didn't get play after is ridiculous. Mazzulla is just too rigid to be a coach. The man never tries anything creative and doesn't seem capable of adjusting on the fly. I very much doubt he'll be fired, but I am certain that from this point forward he will be the least popular coach this team has had in a long time.

I like Jaylen Brown, despite his flaws on and off the court, but sometimes I get the feeling he doesn’t like basketball all that much.

Just a feeling.

We are gonna once again be treated to excuses for Tatum all off season again
Your best player sprained his ankle on the first play and gutted it out all night. He's by far the biggest reason this team has gone so far in the playoffs the past 2 seasons. Not really sure what excuses are gonna be made, or what you wanna do about it.

The biggest quarter of your season, or career, you start the 4th down 10 with a punchers chance. First play, Marcus gives Butler like 4 feet of space, drains a 3. It was over.

Marcus’ prime is over, and he’s the de facto team leader of a very troubled and inconsistent team that needs a new voice. It’s time.

Marcus is only 29, I don’t buy for a minute that his prime is over

After seeing Mazzulla's press conference, I get strong Belichick coaching tree "fake-it-til-you-DON'T-make-it" disciples like Eric Mangini and Matt Patricia. Being curt and difficult for no reason. Hope I'm wrong and he shows himself to be a good coach going forward, and not just playing the tough guy part to mask other shortcomings.

Smarts interview really irritated me and I’m generally a Marcus Smart guy. In the end post game interviews aren’t the place to find deep analysis but there was just something missing in what he was saying. I can’t even place my finger on it but it just didn’t feel right. Started with talking about Ime and just felt like there wasn’t an acknowledgment that they never really seemed able to be a complete team post the first month of the season
Smart’s been an asshole about the Udoka situation from the jump. But any time you have a culture guy who thinks he’s a better player than he is blaming two different coaches’ situations for outcomes like these, I think you’ve got to move on.

Pat Riley is in the Finals again. I’ll tell you one guy that is not scared of going in to Boston. It’s that son of a bitch. Damn man, why not Giannis, no, Pat Riley. It feels like a sick joke like he gets off on torturing me.

I mean I’d rather Butler shoot a three than drive to the basket. But I get what you’re saying. It might be time. I do think Derrick White is a much better player at this point. I will always be a massive Marcus Smart fan and will be very upset if he never wins a championship as a Celtic but I understand it might be time for him to go.

4 of their Top 7 players were either injured or physically limited by that point.

Smart did all they could hope for to get this to a Game 7.

Forget the Manning brothers or Ken Dryden. Riley has cost this city like 5-6 championships.

Caleb Martin has been ridiculous this whole postseason.

vs. Mil: .633 FG, .438 3ptFG, .846 FT, 11.2 points
vs. NY: .458 FG, .357 3ptFG, .750 FT, 10.5 points

Those are solid, but then all of a sudden....

vs. Bos: .603 FG, .488 3ptFG, .875 FT, 19.3 points

This for a guy who this season shot .464 from the floor, .360 from three, and .756 from the line, and averaged 8.0 points a game during the regular season.

Forget Jimmy Butler or Bam Adebayo or anyone else on the Heat. The Celtics lost because out of absolutely nowhere, Caleb Martin turned into an unstoppable scorer, right before our very eyes.

We just were the bad guys in a Disney movie about Caleb Martin. It’s really crazy. I can’t get over it to the point I’m annoying myself thinking about it.

Going to really suck when he turns back into a pumpkin against Denver. What an insane three point heater he is on.

Last gamethread rant before bed as this finally settles in. Man I’m really not sure how much I actually like this team. I love the laundry, I like most of the players individually, but fucking A they’re kind of a miserable team to watch and root for. They should have curb stomped this eastern conference playoff lineup on their way to the Finals. I still think tonight is all about Tatum’s injury but they got such a gift from the basketball gods in Giannis getting hurt and the Bucks bowing out early and completely pissed it away. Door to the Finals was WIDE OPEN and they completely and utterly shit down their legs. Atlanta in 6, Philly in 7, and this bizarro series is just not acceptable for a team as talented as the Celtics.

Would have been incredible for them to make history tonight, and happy they almost did, but they never should have let it get to this point in the first place. What an epic squander. The IT4 teams had a quarter of the talent this team has but I’d have run through a wall for them. Not these guys.

Co-sign 100%. They had a title on their racket last June and blew it and they just weren’t fun this year. They just have some serious maturity issues and likely quite a bit of hubris.

Also how the fuck is this team so awful at home? A losing record at home the past two playoffs combined? That’s such weak shit. Crowd was incredible tonight and it didn’t make a lick of difference. Role players shoot better at home vs. on the road does not apply to the Boston Celtics.

If I am Stevens, I call KG tomorrow and ask him point blank if he has any interest in coaching this team. If he says yes, hire him and have Wyc pay for the best assistant coaching staff that money can buy.

KG 100% shot down that he would ever be a coach back when CBS stepped down. He said he lacks the patience to do it. Never say never, I guess, but he seems to know it won't be something for him.

What a weird thing to say.

I'm pissed at Tatum, so you expect me to be anti-semitic?

Care to expound? I assume not, because you're trying to drive by with a pretty serious accusation. Par for the course, unfortunately. "Don't agree with his take - call him racist/anti-semitic/sexist."

But I'm all ears. Not even knowing if I'm Jewish, why would I make anti-semitic comments?
Check your PMs for the receipts.

Get Jupiter Nuts (Sam I am) a promotion, is that possible, and hire him away from Philly. At least we know he wants to coach. 14 years of experience.

It feels worse. Even with Tatum getting hurt, 84 fucking points? At home? Are you fucking kidding me?
Just a catastrophic offensive performance. Couldn’t shoot. Too many turnovers. Brown was a disaster, but it’s not like a bunch of others stepped up. We needed someone to be Caleb Martin and nobody came through.

their 3 pt shooting was cold and all their other shots were not going
in---even though they had good drives and good looks---basketball is streaky that way--they need to back away from 3's when they are not making them and drive--last night was too important a game to just stick with them when they are not going in do they resign Jaylen--i think so but they may need to get another center as Al is not getting younger and you can't play Timelord the whole game--does a healthy Gallinari make a difference?
