Kudos on the title, as it feels like this team is wandering in the desert right now. Let's hope they find some wins there!
This is going to be a tough series. I think Arizona is probably a better overall team than the Angels, so hopefully the day off does the Sox some good.

2 out of 3 gets us to 4/6 on the road.... it's not ideal but I'd consider it a "salvage", especially winning a road series at the end of the trip. A full sweep here would be more than a "salvage" to me but a full on success. 50% win road percentage would be above average and put a team towards a 90 win (assuming averaging 60% win percentage at home) pace. Whatever.... I know what you mean. SWEEP THE FUCKERS!!!! Diamondback Schmiamondbacks!!!!
Brandon Pfaadt was Arizonas top pitching prospect coming into the season and got the call up earlier this month. He has struggled but been better lately. Still, this is a rookie the Sox should be able to hit.

Duran is 0 for his last 15 (8 Ks) and 1 for 19 on the road trip. Devers is 2 for his last 19. A day to just work in the cage and otherwise relax might do each of them good.

With Duran and Devers getting the night off (at least for the beginning), the only other option would be to play Reyes at SS, Keekay in CF and move Tapia to left. Who would bat fifth in that lineup is anyone's guess
I assume that with a day off in a city that isn't home, they actually take the whole day off from baseball. Kinda precludes them from doing work in the cage.

Him playing makes sense if they think giving Duran a day off is important, but yeah, hitting the guy who is 2 for 21 against righties this season 5th seems aggressive.
