I continue to believe that the Celtics can win the next game. It is without question the only thing that matters.

It isn't likely to be easy or comfortable or even pretty. That doesn't matter. All that matters is that Boston wins the next game.

I want to hear “SEE YOU MONDAY” raining down from the rafters Thursday night.

Vincent is questionable with that ankle sprain. They need to put the pedal to the metal again tonight. Even if he plays, he'll be limited. Lowry is going to have to play extra minutes, and his conditioning isn't exactly top notch. The Celtics need to use their youth and athleticism and wear these guys out.

I'm really excited to be watching the Celtics play basketball tonight. I hope to have the same feeling on Saturday.

Celtics Forum - "Marc Davis is the crew chief for tonight's Celtics Heat game. In the past 2 years with Marc Davis or Ed Malloy reffing, Boston is 2-9 at home. The Heat are 19-4 with them reffing (10-3 on the road, 10-2 this year overall) If we lose, y'all know why"

I dont buy into this stuff too much, but is it not a little damning of the nba product that stats like these exist, especially in the post Donaghy era? Or are these sample sizes just too small?

I’m not a stats expert but I would think this would be pretty close to impossible to not be correlated given how good the Celts have been for years.

They are now missing 3 guards, and this will be the extent of their rotation.

Butler
Adebayo
Love
Martin
Robinson
Lowry
Zeller

Love plays the 1st 6 minutes of each half and then sits, so there will be a lot more Robinson, I would assume.

The Celtics will have plenty of match-ups to hunt, but I hope they don't go overboard with it and just stop running their offense to do that.

Kyle Lowry going to be on some bullshit tonight.
This.

Just accept that this will be a Heat Culture game (Rondo's elbow just twinged!), the officials will allow them to get away with a lot. Boston is simply going to have to play through it. Hopefully the team expects this and knows getting back is job one vs complaining about Kyle's internal organ exams. The latter is probably something Miami depends upon and feels like a Cancun focused approach.

Just win the game

Right Here
They don't need a three-game winning streak. They just need to win one game three times in a row.

Let's go!

Vincent's quickness has been a big factor. While I still fear Lowry and his garbage play, it's a different element and one we theoretically should be better equipped to handle. Vincent has been on some real bullshit hitting pull-up threes off the dribble coming around screens and so on. Just makes those defensive recoveries a little bit easier with the much slower player out there instead.

Edit: Marc Davis is a really shitty ref, just objectively terrible at his job, and I assume it's less some kind of bias and more that the Celtics young roster has been A) more likely to respond poorly to what they see as shitty officiating and B) less likely to know how to take advantage of his shitty officiating the way more veteran teams might. They need to keep their cool and play their game and for god's sake throw their heads back!

Marc Davis is one of the absolute worst officials in the NBA.. and the numbers against the C’s are insane.. just look at how many more fouls the other team gets when he refs and how many fewer FTs the C’s get when he’s a ref.. I believe I looked it up at one point and the numbers felt like they were beyond SSS or an anomaly.

Sorry need to clarify - by "dont buy into this stuff" I was referring to I dont believe Adam Silver and company assigned Davis this game because they want the Heat to win. I do believe refs operate with bias in certain situations...and to your point it certainly seems past the sss stuff. It's just a terrible look for the NBA imo to have access to these biases/stats and operate as if they dont matter. George is getting upset!

They ran Miami out of the gym in the second half last game. Defense and boards to baskets. Even after makes, they were flying and scoring before Miami could set. Would love to see more of it.

If the Celtics can't beat the 8 seed at home, in a do-or-die, with the Heat missing 3 of their 8 rotation players, they have no business in the finals. I can't wait for game 6!

According to OddsShark, this year Davis rounds out the top three - shockingly with with Foster and Brothers - for the most home wins reffed this season. Oohhh boy!

Better now than later in the series. Celtics are defying all narratives—quantitative or otherwise.

The Heat have to beat us one more time or else they got nothing. Every day just remember—today is not the day they get the one win they need.

Not today.

Spoelstra mentioned it in the post-game.. or at least answered a question about it. With Vincent out and a shorter rotation I expect Spoelstra try to make the game a slog.. just slow down every possible possession as much as possible.

Currently en route to the Garden area and will be in the building tonight. Can promise you all I will not have a voice in morning work meetings tomorrow. Let’s go Celts!

Humiliate the Heat. May chants of “see you Monday” chase them out of the Garden and haunt their dreams.

Run on misses. Run on makes. Defensive ball pressure to speed Miami up.

It speaks to the sad state of the league when fans are either excited or depressed by the ref assignments that night, and there is actual data to justify those feelings.
