Al would be great coming off the bench but he demands to start and close. Maybe he will back off of that with the pay cut next year.In terms of who has to go, Horford is averaging 6/7/3 this postseason and shooting <30% from 3. He’s almost 37. He still has his moments but seems pretty clear he can’t be counted on. Is moving on from Al and Smart enough of a shakeup? Too much?
I posted those same concerns about Spo and the mismatch and was thrilled when we got Atlanta in R1.I’m not gonna go digging up posts but I’m pretty sure my pre season take was that Mazzulla gave them the best chance for a good start but I was super worried that they’d have to face a Heat team in the playoffs and he’d need to trade adjustments with Spolestra. Little did I know he’d sidestep this by not having adjustments
The last fucking thing I want to hear is Jaylen’s “truth”.
Wait what? He demands he starts and closes? That’s a thing?Al would be great coming off the bench but he demands to start and close. Maybe he will back off of that with the pay cut next year.
But he’s rightWho gives a shit what Magic Johnson has to say?
No, meaning Tatum is a very good #2. But not the alpha.Huh? Pippen sure as hell wasn't the leader of the Bulls
It reads way worse than it sounded. He was taking accountability for everything in the PC and just saying it starts with him. If he had been asked why Kennedy was shot he would have said it was his fault in that PCYikes.

Joe Mazzulla was asked if he has lost the locker room: "Yeah, it’s why I need to be better to figure out what this team needs." Why has that happened? "I’m not sure."
My point is that he's #1 in talent but not the alpha personality. That's a tough needle to thread. No, meaning Tatum is a very good #2. But not the alpha.
Could very well just be Washburn trying to create drama. The last fucking thing I want to hear is Jaylen’s “truth”.
Maybe throwing the clipboard broke them. There just has to be something going on.
Maybe Ime backlash finally surfacing? Or some internal issues between players?
Any 1 game can be flukey, but the last 3 in a row have started to get weird.
Yeah, that’s not great. He’s not the problem as in the nba it’s a players league but damn.Yikes.

Is his truth admitting he has sucked in this series? If it isn’t then he can continue to bite his tongue. I don’t want to hear from any of these players if they are going to offer anything other than they played like ass.
He needs a number two that he can play off of on offense. It’s amazing how little chemistry Tatum and Brown have on offense after 6 years. No, meaning Tatum is a very good #2. But not the alpha.

For sure. I just don’t care for Jaylen at all.Could very well just be Washburn trying to create drama.
If he wants to play for Ime, see what they can get from the Rockets for him. No one on this team should be safe from being traded. There just has to be something going on.

This team never recovered from the third quarter of the Game 1Maybe throwing the clipboard broke them.
Great point about the Ime backlash. I wonder if these guys are pissed at the organization for doing what they had to do and it’s coming up to the surface. I’m sure some juicy stuff is going to come out in the off-season because something is wrong. There just has to be something going on.

I think that's more of a guy whose role needs to be reduced. They won the PHI series because Al is one of maybe 4 guys who can really defend Embiid. If he didn't play as well as he did on defense they lose that series in 5 or 6 tops.In terms of who has to go, Horford is averaging 6/7/3 this postseason and shooting <30% from 3. He’s almost 37. Yeah and if you want to zoom way out, they never recovered from blowing the Finals last year. This team never recovered from the third quarter of the Game 1
I think that’s 100% the case. If it’s still true that none of the players know what happened, I don’t blame them.Great point about the Ime backlash. Nothing, the Rockets are a trashfire and they didn't even get a top 3 pick. Nobody on that team is ready to be in a contending rotation next year.If he wants to play for Ime, see what they can get from the Rockets for him. No one on this team should be safe from being traded.
I think he needs a guy like Dame who can shoot lights out at a high volumeHe needs a number two that he can play off of on offense. It’s amazing how little chemistry Tatum and Brown have on offense after 6 years.
I think everyone on this roster wants to play for Ime over Joe. I don’t think that’s even a hot takeIf he wants to play for Ime, see what they can get from the Rockets for him. No one on this team should be safe from being traded.
They beat us though . . .Nothing, the Rockets are a trashfire and they didn't even get a top 3 pick. Nobody on that team is ready to be in a contending rotation next year.
Not getting this. Al’s defense against the 76ers was heroic. No way the Cs come close to winning that series without him. And Marcus is the only starter with an edge on the team. What the team really needs is a star caliber player who is more comfortable leading the offense in crunch time as neither Tatum or Brown are up to that challenge. If trading Brown can get us that you’d have to explore it. Problem is he’s now on an expiring contract so he’d only be attractive to a team that thinks they can resign him..In terms of who has to go, Horford is averaging 6/7/3 this postseason and shooting <30% from 3. He’s almost 37. He still has his moments but seems pretty clear he can’t be counted on. Is moving on from Al and Smart enough of a shakeup? Too much?
This team isn’t contending for a championship until they don’t wilt when the pressure is on.Nothing, the Rockets are a trashfire and they didn't even get a top 3 pick. Nobody on that team is ready to be in a contending rotation next year.
I don’t know, the late game execution is one thing but tonight’s effort in a must win game in the conference finals is something else. Could be wrong but it makes me feel there’s a major systemic disconnect somewhere. Why does something have to be “wrong”? This is who these guys are. They often fold in tough spots. Not always, but a lot. They’re a team that has always played dumb, and now they have a coach that can’t seem to help them claw their way out of that habit. They’re entitled and they’ve never won a title.
Hopefully they won’t be playing for Joe much longer. You can’t keep a coach that has to learn on the job as the head coach of the Celtics.I think everyone on this roster wants to play for Ime over Joe. I don’t think that’s even a hot take
I don't think they need a new star (not that adding a superstar from Brown wouldn't be great), they need a guy who can settle things down, make sure they run good offense, and set Tatum up. Tatum is mercurial at times, but a lot of his struggles when he does struggle is not being able to get what he wants in terms of looks. A teammate could help with that, but right now he has Smart and Brown, who are not guys you can count on to make good calm decisions in pressure situations, or to run the offense with the intent of getting Tatum easy looksNot getting this. Al’s defense against the 76ers was heroic. No way the Cs come close to winning that series without him. And Marcus is the only starter with an edge on the team. Meh, they were contenders last year, arguably this year too. And if you're trading Brown which was the premise, you're doing it because you think it's the move that gets you a ring, not a re-set going into the end of Tatum's contract. This team isn’t contending for a championship until they don’t wilt when the pressure is on.
They tried in the first half. They just sucked. They tried to start the 2nd half and also sucked. Then they quit.I don’t know, the late game execution is one thing but tonight’s effort in a must win game in the conference finals is something else. Could be wrong but it makes me feel there’s a major systemic disconnect somewhere.
I mean, at a certain point, when literally everyone everyone is talking about what a shit coach you have…then I think it’s the truth
You think hiring some random dude to be your head coach would yield better results?I mean, at a certain point, when literally everyone everyone is talking about what a shit coach you have…then I think it’s the truth
At least Belichick had 6 titles under his belt as a head coach before he let hubris get in the way. Brad Stevens was a college coach who never won, then an NBA coach who couldn't win (with mostly this same team) before becoming an executive who has hired two straight coaches who couldn't win, arguably while having the best core in the league. I'm almost at the point where they just need to clean house from top to bottom and start over. They have Tatum signed, Brown is probably a coin flip to sign an extension, Smart has peaked, Horford has hit the wall, and everybody else is too inconsistent. The so called genius general managers…Belichick‘ disaster selection of Matt Patricia effectively flushing a year down the toilet and Brad‘s short sighted selection of an obviously unseasoned Mazzulla has just made my year. What a waste of time and talent.
Yeah, I was thinking this as the game wound down. Something happened in the locker room at some point. Maybe Ime related or maybe not, but this is not a cohesive bunch. Some stories are going to come out over the summer I bet. There just has to be something going on.

I think they feel like the Patriots offense did about Patricia. While they (Celtics not Patriots) got by on their talent alone for most of the year they could let his inexperience slide. But now that they are needing to look toward their coach for some leadership and tactical changes, he's got nothing to offer and all of those little gripes and frustrations that have built up over the season are erupting now that they are getting their heads kicked in on national TV.Yeah, I was thinking this as the game wound down. Joe goes, whatever. Just make sure that’s not a scapegoat for another issue that is festering. Kerr has been doing it for a lot longer and he could not overcome a simmering locker room issue. Too much to ask of Joe. Something is rotten in that locker room I think.
