The rock of the rotation at the moment pitches tonight. His last start was against the O's and he went 7ip of 1 run ball. If he keeps the ball in the park, he should have another great start. Hess is bringing a 7.59 ERA over his previous 5 starts to this one. In other words, Yankees are heavy favorites.

Speaking of rocks of the rotation, we're still without our true ace. Thus, today's IL highlight who we need to get healthy is Severino. I'd be happy if we got him back this year and he avoided any major surgeries. A healthy and rested Severino could be huge for the playoffs.

German is Severino for the first half of the season and then Luis returns for the second half and pitches as he did the first half of 2018. Highly unlikely coming off his injury but we can dream. This seems like a season where dreams can come true. Just look at how German filled in.

And then, how does Boone use German in the second half? Innings limit and bullpen are two possibilities.

Gleyber is the youngest middle infielder in MLB history with 5 multi-HR games.

There's the David Hale move I expected yesterday: Cortes Jr. sent down, Hale added to the 40 man and brought up, Andujar moved to the 60 day DL.

The alltime record for HRs against BAL pitching in a season is 12, Gary and Gleyber each have 8.

Never saw this before. Orioles fan catches a pop foul with one hand and the GM comes down and signs him to a contract.

Gio doubles to deep left, driving in Hicks. Dwight Smith Jr. botches the catch. He is a circus out there.
And now Clint goes deep to dead center. 6-0. Crow has his easy game.
All German does is win.

Was hoping German could go deep and give the bullpen a rest, 58 pitches through 3 means it’s up to the offense to keep it out of reach.

11-3 now...thank God for the Orioles pitching...in other news, if you didn't think the Yankee/Red Sox series in London was stupid enough, now comes word because of the tight schedule to shoehorn these games in... there is no time to actually prepare the stadium with a proper field, so an entirely artificial surface, made in France will plopped on top of the actual natural turf there and used for the games. Manfred should be shot....

20 HRs for NY in their last 5 games here is the most by any visiting team in five straight road games anywhere, MLB record.

Same as last year, Hale can't be optioned down without being exposed to waivers and so they may try to keep him for a bit.

Looks like Stanton was scratched due to a supposedly minor leg issue. This guy...

But not a pull, a bit sore from a HBP the other day. NY is on the road through the weekend, then Monday is Stanton’s bobblehead day in the Bronx, so that’s what they are maybe aiming for. Clint seems to appreciate the extra ABs...

What's the over/under for the number of strikeouts in Stanton's first 50 at bats? How about the number of home runs?

He was a lot better than Sanchez last year, maybe give the 2017 NL MVP a chance?

The fun ends when Stanton returns.
I disagree. We had a small version of this conversation a couple of weeks ago but our lineup today has a couple of holes in it. Judge and Stanton will be replacing Gardner and the DH. I can't see any reason why the existing lineup would suddenly falter in the absence of Gardner. One thing I do wonder about though is lineup construction. Are Judge, Sanchez, and Stanton better off being separated?

You are right, of course. I was just alluding to the “underdog” status of the replacements. It will be good to get Stanton back. Gardner can rest more and Clint can get his ass traded for a pitcher.
