Enough of this shit.

Tomorrow is my first trip to Fenway of the season. Bringing the wife. It’s almost our 33rd anniversary and we’re treating this pilgrimage to Boston as our celebration. My brother’s toast at our wedding was that “you should have the Larry Bird of marriages” and we’ve at least made it to his number.

So a win is important tomorrow, for all kinds of reasons.

Chris Sale is just the man for the job.

this feels like a must win. you can't squander a 3-0 start to a homestand into a 4-4 one, Sale is looking like an ace and it's Wade fucking Miley out there for Houston.

Not to mention another loss returns the Sox to .500. A mark we thought they were going to leave far behind after last week!

"We" thought no such thing. During the irrational exuberance of the wins against the White Sox, Orioles, and Mariners, I said that we wouldn't really know anything until after the Astros series. I'm afraid that we may now know, at least until we have a full, healthy rotation. Of course, today, we will see the great Chris Sale against the less than great Wade Miley, who, in an oddity of this very odd season, has the lower ERA of the two. Did you know that Wade Miley allows less time between pitches than any other pitcher in baseball, according to mlbn? So, the game should move right along, anyway.

The leadoff thing isn't that big a deal. It's unusual, sure; but a) he's not going to lead off an inning 4-5 times; and b) the only other option, given the lineup, is Mookie.

Maybe, against a LHP, the thinking is just to get Chavis some better pitches to see by hitting in front of Betts.

The longer range concern is that the RH role players, Nunez and Pearce, are off to such bad starts that it weakens the lineup throughout

Either Beni doesn't like his hair wet or he has a friend graduating from BU

(or it's a scheduled day off)

Pearce, Nunez and Bradley have been scarily ineffectual offensively. But better to save Moreland for his best chances.

so both teams absolutely gift the other a run to start off.

really disappointed how we've played in the past week.
