Snell vs. Tanaka, 1:05 p.m. Two good clubs playing hardball, bringing out the best in each other.
Actually I posted in the other thread, but we got another overarching update this AM...What we are doing and how we are doing it is so damn improbable, then again so is this neverending streak of bad luck injury. Normally I'd reluctantly agree that Gardner is now so weak at the plate we can't afford him out there...and yet somehow we are mostly mustering offense and as with his twisting, turning, 'didn't give up on it' catch out there last night, his defense is why we can still afford him in the lineup. Also Crow says 'let the big boys heal', the problem is all of them keep taking longer and longer (Where have you gone Didi? Our nation turns it's lonely eyes to you...) to do that and the new injuries just keep coming dammit.
Counterbalanced by literally the best pitching staff in relation to the league since before WW 1.Tampa’s offense is inept outside of Meadows and maybe Pham. 21st in runs scored. 22nd in HR.
Those were 2 pretty darn intense games for May.Nice win for your boys, VORP.
Life intervened today so I kept tabs by phone, caught the final 3 outs at home. Agree with you and VORP. Two intense games for May. Tampa’s pitching staff is deep. Hope the Yanks can touch up Morton tomorrow.Nice run, Terry!
Also as an aside from above, Voit is pretty bad defensively as much as we'd like him to be adequate. He may get some more DH time once guys are back, Urshela/Didi/Gleyber/DJ at 1st is a pretty amazing defensive infield.
Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.Chad Green 'opening' for NY tomorrow, then I'm guessing one of Chance Adams or Nestor Cortes Jr. At least they won Friday, hopefully Tanaka won't miss a start and Paxton will be back this week.
On the plus side, we also have a well-rested @crow216 going, our ace, so anything is possible.
Pretty sure desperation should be one of those nouns, but maybe Chance will surprise me (unlikely).Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.
