This seems like a perfect spot for Schmidt but maybe they want to save him for the righty-heavy White Sox.

Pretty clear that there isn't a ton of trust in Montgomery to go deep into the game. Pulled after 76 pitches, and it's not the first time. Also probably don't want him to face Santander.

Also they have a bunch of relievers who really need work, Castro's last game was a week ago.

Catcher's interference seems not so hard to make happen if you're a batter.

LOL, Carlos. "If you're the Orioles right here, you're hoping for this ball to stay fair." What an observation.

And the game is pretty much tied. Way to go Castro and Higgy. Should've left Montgomery in.

Another shitty play by Hicks letting the runner tag and go to second, he is truly a nightmare right now.

Everyone goes into slumps at the plate (although Hicks looks like Tauchman before they dumped him, he can't hit anything hard) but Hicks has been lazy in the field all season and it has cost them more than a few times.

This is a downside of everyone pitching so well for NY, sometimes guys get too rested and are rusty when used.

Hicks missed a lot of time and is signed for several more years. I can understand management giving him a bunch of time to get sorted out.

That said, struggling with the bat is a completely different thing than being somewhat listless in the field. I really hope they find a way to move him.

Edit: I think they'd get more out of Gardner right now too. But maybe Hicks will figure it out.

while being a lineout it still wasn't hit as hard as it looked. I thought it would be over the CF's head on contact, and he ended up not moving too much to catch it

EDIT: Looking at statcast, it was somehow only 95 MPH exit velo, just not really on the barrel for him. As compared to his earlier 104 MPH HR and 114 MPH single

DJ still not great defensively at 1B, Rizzo almost certainly makes that scoop.

Hicks actually charging a ball hard! Wonder of wonder, miracle of miracles!
