Didn't need Rask from 2019 but needed more than he gave them last two weeks. He seems to be having trouble tracking the puck last several games.

Some awful puck luck tonight, but this doesn't feel like the first time this team under Cassidy has had a shitty effort in the first playoff game of the year.

The first line needs to get their shit together. They were not taking care of the puck well at all tonight.

I'm ready to completely replace the Coyle line. They're awful. Ritchie was slow and making terrible decisions all night, I hope to hell that his goal doesn't buy him much goodwill.

Same shit as the Tampa series last year, can’t get to the net against larger defenseman.
Yep. Generally pushed around all night. They got pushed around by the Blues and got there by avoiding the Caps who would've pushed them around. In a long series...I don't know how they win. Cannot lose against Anderson. Poop.

You don’t get puck luck when you play like dog shit and don’t control the puck or play. What’s they have like 2 scoring chances all night? Anderson is 14638184738 years old, I don’t and hasn’t played in over a year almost and didn’t break a sweat.

Yeah, the puck off the crossbar earlier practically went through his glove, too.

Wasn’t thrilled with all 3 if I’m honest. Feels like he makes himself small instead of big if that makes sense
He is playing deeper than normal, been doing that for the last several games. A bad habit he falls into from time to time but usually when he is tired. Not sure what is going on but he has given up more goals from low danger areas the last few weeks than he has in months.

Glad it's not just me.
It's particularly noticeable compared with how aggressive Swayman is.
I'm not sure I'd b ready to make a switch yet but Monday better be better

It does. He’s going down way early and off balance, making himself even shorter.
Agreed. He didnt look great back there. Sloppy compared to normal Tired? Injured?

But I dont see them going Swayman unless the wheels come completely off.

Then again the Bs in front didn’t cover themselves in glory either. Carried some play for portions but never seemed to have a bite to them

Honest question. Would anyone have felt better or worse if Fuck Tom Wilson had scored short side? Never mind I know that answer.

The third period breakout strategy consisted of skied pucks to center ice for most of the frame. I'd like to see them skate for more than 20-25 minutes before reverting to the old "Tuukka's fault" routine. Also, more time for DeBrusk / Lazar, less for Kuraly please

How many passes did Marchand have to the Caps? Also how many times did Pasta and Marchand get their pocket picked trying to spin around guys?

Hey, I said that the first line was invisible when not turning the puck over in the neutral zone, too.

It’s not Tuukka’s “fault.” But he let in three goals, none of which were world beaters, and the OT winner hit him in the chest before he farted it in.

And so it begins again #benchTuukka. First goal is arguable. Second goal had 8 deflections and third had one deflection based off a shit front man clear. For fucks sake.

Hooray another playoffs to shit on Tuukka has started! Until he plays well and posts a.920+ sv%. Then he’s fine. Until they lose.

Tuukka wasnt in the top 10 reasons they lost, and he was probably in the top 3 reasons this was close. He made some tough saves tonight.

Seriously. My wife who never ever ever watched hockey sat down for the beginning of the they'd and say "umm so do the bruins ever get the puck? Seems like Washington has it all the time. How is it tied?". To goalie could have been a shooter tutor last night and they would have pulled a loss.

Bruins looked flat. Played D and transition to offense wasn’t there. Yet, they went to OT. Think we have a ways to go in this series

I mean, heaven forbid anyone dare utter a critical word regarding the performance of the guy who was 18th in Save Percentage this year, with the second lowest of his career, on a day in which he has a .906 save percentage, visibly had difficulty tracking some pucks, and the last goal literally hit him in the spoked-B on his chest before he knocked it in.

Marchand was pretty obviously the team MVP this year, and is a bona fide Hart candidate. But it’s completely fine to say he had a shit game, because he’s not your binky.

Between here and everywhere.
Two things can be true:

Tuukka did not play well last night.

Tuukka is not to blame for the Bruins losing last night.

Fucking Craig Anderson was in net and the Bruins only managed like 17 shots on him in 2+ periods.

The perfection line was ass.

Krejci never looked right after Ovechkin trucked him.

In a just world Miller and Lauzon don’t see more than 6 minutes a night going forward.

Exactly. The need to pretend that he’s in Vezina form and that every goal against him is lucky is cultish. It’s like the Boston sports scene is so irrationally anti-Tuukka that some people here have gone completely around the bend on viewing him rationally and instead treat him like a loyalty test.

Yup this is it right here. They were not good enough offensively. The top line gave them next to nothing. Hall line was the best line they had, but they need their best players to play like it and it hasn’t happened in the playoffs since 2019.

Rask was just ok last night, but the bigger issue is getting shots(and more importantly quality shots) on net and make Anderson work and move around a bit more. His rebound control was atrocious, so 2nd effort plays need to be there too.

I’d go with these lines tomorrow

Marchand-Bergeron-Pasta
Hall-Krejci-Smith
Ritchie-Coyle-DeBrusk
Frederic-Lazar-Wagner

Don’t get puck luck when you’re cursed from the start for the wrong guy starting the game thread....

Some observations/questions; that hit on Krejci was not charging, looked like it to me?

Ovechkin cross checked/boarded a Bruin, no call, another Bruin stepped in along the boards and Ovechkin played dead and drew a penalty, it's always the second guy that gets called.

First goal was not on Tuukka, just shit luck as a broken stick led to a break out, the pass before the goal easily would have been broken up had Charlie had his stick.

Second goal totally not on Tuukka, looked like it deflected off a defensemans stick to me?

Third goal was very soft; hit him in the chest, fell to the ice and he knocked in into the net between his legs with his stick.

Then needed to get pucks to the net on Anderson, he's what, 210 years old, he probably had his street clothes on under his uniform, he wasn't a world beater, didn't have to be with that sort of anemic offensive attack.

Disappointing, the Capitols can be had, they need to dial up the offense.

A lot of things the Bruins did last night weren’t good enough, including the goaltending in OT. Hopefully they learn from it that “ decent effort” doesn’t win playoff games. You only get a few scoring chances, the number of which is usually based solely on winning those effort battles, and you have to execute at a higher rate then in the regular season.
