Game 38
Pivetta pitched poorly, (He often does)
and we lost 9 to 3 partly because
we left lots of runners stranded on base.
Our two-for-Tuesday was quite a disgrace.
The brutal, crucial game 5 by the C’s
was not even close. (Like Al Horford’s threes.)
So, I type this poem, grumpy and tired,
with hopes Wednesday night leaves me inspired
to write a creative, colorful poem
on Friday when our Red Sox return home,
and a more epic one on Saturday
if the Celtics have game seven to play.
For now, like the Celts, I’ll phone this one in,
rest up and refresh and hope for a win.

Dylan Lee will open for the Braves against the Red Sox on Wednesday.

So the L is going to go 1 inning, followed by Rs. Will be interesting to see how Cora counters that. Better not have his 7-lefty-lineup going today.

Looks like Dylan Lee is going to open for the Braves. Bullpen guy, never started a game before. In 13 appearances this year, has never gone over 2 innings pitched, and did that twice. And, has never exceded 26 pitches in his 13 appearances.

Mrs. Ballgame and I will be in attendance. Please do not suck.
I will be there as well with my son. Stoked that I get to see Bello.
In case y'all don't live around Atlanta and don't want to pay ballpark prices for food, there's a really good taco place and a ramen/sushi place by the Goodwill near the stadium on 41. If you want great Neopolitan pizza, hit up Antico in the Battery. For amazing barbecue, go to Heirloom Barbecue. It's down on Akers Mill about 10 minutes from the Battery.

Thanks for the recommendations. My son and I went on opening day against the Padres and my son wanted ramen. That place is fantastic.

You should check out Heirloom. It's a mixture of American with Korean thrown in on many dishes. The owners are from Texas and S Korea. Order anything with the kimchi cole slaw on it and you will not be disappointed.

Thanks for the tip. We recently moved to Ringgold, GA from LA and we don't know fuck all about Atlanta!

Insert "Turner Field" joke here.

Comparing the line ups: Are the Braves clearly better than the Sox in all 9 spots?
Feels like a reverse lock.
Hope so.
Devers and Riley is probably close to a push, especially with Riley scuffling.

I would probably take Masa over Rosario, gun to my head, and I know they are different position wise, but I would take Verdugo over Harris.

That said, the Braves are probably at least top 3, if not number 1, when you start talking about deep and well rounded teams. I love this Sox team, but the Braves are absolutely stacked.

Hope Bello can at least give tge offense a chance tonight.

This one has the same melancholy flavor that I'm feeling today -maybe work related? and maybe I'm projecting?
Thanks again. And I know a few playwrights here in Austin, TX that I met when I lived up in Brooklyn..... just wondering how close of a community you all are? More avant garde/meta-fiction/surreal type of stuff. Performed in a parking lot elevator....

The Braves biggest hole right now is the starting staff with Fried and Wright on the IL. Their lineup is weaker when Ozuna is the DH. But when he actually makes contact it goes out of the park. With d'Arnaud back they will be flipping him and Murphy between catcher and DH and just putting Ozuna in when one needs a rest. If they had Hilliard in LF they would have three guys who can pay CF in the outfield.

I have felt down since the Celts game. Trying to muster excitement for the Sox today and will hopefully enjoy the distraction. Work is always a bummer here - still busy here at nearly 5. I have no community of poets here in Central Florida though I connect with several playwrights via email groups and Facebook. These days, my only writing are SOSH poems and posts, but I am fond of both activities, even in the melancoly moments.

Are you still in culture shock?

There's $10 parking on Herodian Way. It's a short walk to the stadium from there.
As to the culture shock, it’s been an awesome experience. Getting out of LA was the best thing for us. We traded in 1/2 acre for 10 acres so plenty of room for the horses, dogs and goats. Everyone is very friendly and we don’t catch much shit for our liberalism.[

Cool. And you're close to Chattanooga which has a lot to offer for food and entertainment.

I have a niece living in Sewanee, which is about a half=hour from Chattanooga. They find lots of congenial people out there, and they are liberals.
Anyway----I do hope tonight's game is better than last night's; it's gotta be, right????????????

YOu'd think that the strategy would be to make a reliever starting for the first time throw a lot of pitches.

Some pretty horrible at bats early in this one. What are we swinging at? We're doing a good job keeping this an easy bullpen game for the Braves.
