I believe it was Clint himself who said he dislikes the name Red Thunder. You can’t see thunder, so I guess it makes it odd to describe something you can only hear by calling it red. But when I saw that swing yesterday, it immediately reminded me why Clint Frazier was and is a relevant baseball player who has some impressive bat speed. If he swings like that in a few more high leverage spots, he will not shake this non-sensical nickname. If you haven’t seen his bomb, that swing was majestic.

So, as we watch one kid try to prove himself, another takes the mound. This guy is 1-0 coming off a strong start where he didn’t allow a run. That would be David Hess, who carries a 0 era. Oh, same for Germán.

Btw, wiki has his full name as Domingo German Polanco. Never knew that.

Who was the Yankee prospect that got badly injured last year (or 2017) running into a low outfield wall? Was that Frazier?
No, Dustin Fowler, traded to the A’s in the Sonny Gray deal, he had a miraculous recovery but is now buried behind the legend of Laureano.

Sanchez has 5 HRs and 2 singles this year, no doubles or triples.

Clint making a bid to keep the LF job even after Hicks and Stanton are back (Stanton DH, Gardner 4th OF).

Just turned the game on much to my delight. Surprised to only see 3ks from German but loving that shiny ERA

This one’s for Coup and Terry:

“The Yankees' seven homers today are their most in a road game since May 30, 1961. They hit seven at Boston that day. A list of the men who homered both days:

1961
Mantle (2)
Maris (2)
Skowron (2)
Berra

2019
Sanchez (3)
Frazier (2)
Torres
Romine”

We were weaned on homers in 1961. 240 could have been 300 but Bobby Richardson, Tony Kubek and the pitchers refused to swing from their heels. The three catchers totaled 61 homers (two of them played some outfield).

And that explains my avatar, the average kid, even at SOSH, only recognizes 3 of those 4 '61 names...I loved the original Moose.

It was painful to watch Skowron hit .385 for the Dodgers as they swept the Yankees in '63.
