Well this is why we have FIP and so on, because ERA just tells you what happened, not whether a guy was doing well.

Need a video of him dropping playing cards on the bodies of pitchers he took deep.
Grading on a curve, he gets an A plus.
At this point in the season, with our pitching woes and solid offense, I’ll happily accept a starter limiting the other team to three runs before leaving mid game.
Honestly in the age of Statcast and pitch modeling we have better tools than FIP to judge, especially this early on when sample sizes are small.
His velocity was down 2-3 mph across the board and more importantly (imo) the hortizontal break on his slider is down 7 inches. It's concerning if it lasts after another start or two.
Martin an inning early? I'm worried we're going to have the name-that-cannot-be-said for the 8th....
Yeah, Tigers were also dead last in runs scored last year, so not exactly pitching against a juggernaut. Either way, I'll take the outcome and hope he can figure it out in his bullpen sessions before stuff gets more difficult.
Miggy on first, ground ball to Casas, Miggy didn’t make much of an effort to do anything.
Think it was a line drive and then tagged the runner coming back from second. The runner gave up on the play and let himself get tagged. I only saw the last part

In very out of the box thinking...I'd save the non-Jansen shitty pitcher for as long as possible in the hopes they score more runs before said Scheissballer has to pitch. So if the dont score in the 8th, Jansen in the 8th and hope they score in the top9.
It is an interesting dilemma. You only have 3 innings of good pitchers and 4 innings to go. Do you use the shitty pitcher early, with a 3 run lead, or take your chances on extending the lead and reducing some of the leverage. (All this assumes, of course, that the "good" pitchers dont cough it up. )
Yeah, that was sort of what I was implying above you. It’s an interesting way of looking at it.
Casas looks for extra outs every time there’s a play at first. This time, it actually worked out in his favor. If bases had been loaded, he would have stepped on first then tried to tag three more guys.
There's also the fact that 4-5-6 for Detroit is up in the 8th. I expect Cora to go the conventional route, and hope he doesn;t have to go to Jansen until maybe there's an out or 2 already.
