Why? Smart to me at this point isn’t as good as the other two.. and both of them are competent three point shooters..

If Marcus continues to play defense like he has been then there’s just no advantage to having him on the floor imo.
Because the coach shows no sign of playing the other players over him in these situations.

Ah.. then we agree. I was thinking that's what you were saying but wasn't sure. I'm a little over Marcus Smart at the moment.. I think he's valuable if he can play elite defense.. but at the moment he isn't and it seems like every time he comes in something that doesn't need to happen happens. I'm not sure the team plays better with Smart on the floor at this point.

If you have Horford, JAYs, White on the floor we'll probably see Smart instead of Brogdon since Marcus is the better defender (when healthy)

BUT tonight the C's didn't have Brown so thought we could have used Brogdon's half-court offense a little more

Also think Blake is a better match-up against Embiid than Grant, if we see the Sixers down the road. Blake for 8-10 minutes on Joel could help

From The Athletic:

Even some of Boston’s postgame comments about the officiating sounded like gamesmanship. If they are going to play Embiid again soon, they would like the MVP candidate to get a different whistle than he often does. Al Horford said officials are “just waiting to make a call” for Embiid and defenders are limited when guarding him. Smart said Embiid “does a really good job being able not to get touched by the defender.” Williams raved about the performance of Embiid, who drilled 20 of 25 shots on the night, but also said, “It’s difficult to guard him sometimes too when you can’t touch him.”

agree--at least have him and our other centers force him to the foul line and please stop having Al take 3s when he is not hot and please have him defend the middle!

where I was last at
Blake would be a source of fouls to save Al and TL and GW and the ghost of Henry Finkel. But Embiid is a force of nature. He would blow by Blake to the hoop and cause more damage than a tornado in a Oklahoma trailer park.

Embiid had one of those nights where he couldn't miss.

The non-Brogdon bench guys played 40 minutes combined, and contributed 0 points. After a 13 point first half by Brogdon, where he pressed his offense, he only managed 5 second half points.

Even with Embiid making almost every shot, partially because defenders had to play softer than they’d like due to a ridiculously friendly whistle, and Tatum scoring only 19 points (on 20 shots), including only 1 in the fourth quarter, Boston still could have won this game on the final possession, without Jaylen and TL.

There is no way this Sixers team can beat a relatively healthy Boston team in a playoff series

Last night reminded me of when Wilt would run up 50 points against Russell and Boston would win because its supporting class was better, and smarter.

But I do appreciate your certainty.

Never say never, but I'm feeling very good about a second round matchup with these Sixers, with home court and a healthy(ish) squad. Even if Embiid outplays Tatum (strong possibility), the rest of the rosters don't feel that close.

The four missed FTs and the T on GW really changes the game as well.

Well at least the fans got chicken.
