Yeah. You have Tatum yelling “Don’t foul. Don’t foul!” and then Smart goes and absolutely tanks the game with that ridiculous steal attempt. He’s the goat of this game.

I’m pissed too but the hate directed toward the coach is misplaced. This team lives and dies with Jaylen and Jayson and the former missed critical free throws and the latter had an utterly shit game.

Other than the 2 foul calls on him (which I don’t care what anyone says, they were awful calls) what exactly did Smart do to deserve all of this scorn?

If you want to talk about knowing the situation, or keeping your cool, fine….how about kicking the ball at the ref and getting a tech? Does that apply?

Tatum was the reason they lost that game. Period. I’ve never seen him so disengaged. He honestly looked like he would rather be anywhere else than on the court. He threw at least 4 underhanded, lazy fuck passes that his teammates bailed him out of turnovers. He took multiple heat check shots when he couldn’t throw the ball in the fucking ocean

White played 31 minutes it’s actually a fucking joke. How can you have faith in the coach who doesn’t recognize the obvious and also has no clue how to get the team to do simple shit like find a mismatch and attack it and is happy to let them fucking dribble the clock out and jack contested threes instead.

Yup. It’s really not complicated. Trae upped his game in crunch time and Tatum…didn’t.

Smart got fucked on that loose ball call, I’ll say that

Just remarkably dumb basketball. Tatum, Mazzula and Smart all deserve to get roasted for idiotic play all night. The complacency on this team is such a toxic trait.

The loss is squarely on Tatum. Every fucking time we had the opportunity to stretch the lead, he had to play hero-ball iso and put up a shitty 3 when all we needed to do was drive the lane.

I don't think he's as good as some of you guys think he is.
Tatum was 1/11 from 3 and 8/11 from 2 today.

GO TO THE FUCKING HOOP

Here
This is the same thing they always do. Get ahead and try to run out the clock the last 6 minutes. The same fucking thing has happened for years, across three coaches. It's the players, not the coaches.

They played that game like it was a January matinee in Orlando from the jump. People saying they aren’t surprised but I’m kinda shocked. That doesn’t bother me in January at all. It’s a long season. But it’s an elimination game in the playoffs.

This is just silly. Don’t know why I visit these game threads as I know they’re just inane emotion but this coach just led the team to the second best record (by a single game) with TL gone for much of the season.

Overreact much?
Silly? It's not emotion. He's in over his head. They finish in the top 3 if I'm coaching the team. That shit show in the fourth quarter is malpractice.

Ownership will dump him if the Bucks go down and the Celtics still don't make the finals. Only a couple of years from a tough hard cap. The time is now.
I’m fairly confident an Udoka Celtics team would have swept the Hawks like they did to the Nets who had more talent (2 hall of Famers)

Because the coaches have never held anyone accountable for shit in the Stevens era.

Yep, this too. I remember not long ago people shitting on Brad when these exact same things happened.

Brogdon played 26 and scored 14 on 6-12 shooting... in fairness Marcus only played 27 mins.. and was 4-8

A ham sandwich could have led this roster to this record the way the NBA is.

where I was last at
It wasn't one play. It was a team turtling when they should have been closing this out in the last 3 minutes.

They did this shit all year long.

They learned nothing.

If that's a foul on Smart.. then the turnover on Tatum was also a foul on his defender.. that guy shoved Tatum down before he grabbed his leg.

But Atlanta has been getting away with little shoves all series..

We can dump on Mazzula all night but I don’t think there’s a coach in the league that can get this core to not get turnover prone and 3-happy at the end of games. It’s who they are.

I’m pretty squarely in the middle on this Mazzula debate.

I don’t think he’s the main reason for the loss tonight…but he was a contributing factor. I don’t think he’s a terrible coach but I don’t think he’s particularly good either. Luckily, I don’t think any of the teams on their level have great coaches either

I generally think the Mazzulla hate is an overreaction and unfounded but I do have a hard time imagining that effort with Udoka on the sideline. I don’t remember that being much of an issue in the playoffs last year.

Thought we were saving Brogdon for the playoffs. Maybe saving him for next year.
Yeah.. IMO Smart should be getting about 15 at this point.. he's not a good PG and his minutes by comparison to Brogdon and White are total chaos for no reason. He can't play straight up offense or defense anymore..

Brogdon and White by comparison are always under control and just playing hoops.. Marcus thinks he has to force something to happen every second he's on the court.
