PawSox take game 1 of double-header in 11 innings.  Even better... Rubby De La Rosa has his 3rd first-rate start of the season; 6 IP, 1 ER, 4 H, 5 K, 1 BB.  I wonder how many innings of top quality work he has to put up before he's ready for the big club?   And how would a good/great 1-2 months by RDLR affect Workman's transition to starter?  btw, G. Cecchini goes 3/5.

Exciting... in the words of Suzyn Waldman, "Oh my GOODNESS GRACIOUS!"

What?
Some positives in Pawtucket's first game: Cecchini goes 3/5, Vazquez goes 2/3 with a 2B and a BB, and Rubby DLR goes 6 full on 82 pitches, 4H 1R 1BB 5K.

edit: Sorry WenZink, I had a post this open for about 20 min while having a conversation at work, didn't mean to go over the same ground twice.

While it has not rained in New Britain today the RockCats's field was uncovered during the harsh weather the last few days. The game is in a "field conditions" delay and Mike Antonellis (Sea Dogs Radio) is sounding pessimistic.

Update: Game postopned.

Go back and read the RDLR minor league game threads from early last season. He needs to show endurance and consistency, not short stretches of high potential.

Ah, yeah, I got that, but the gist of my, somewhat rhetorical, question was how much consistency does De La Rosa have to demonstrate?  8 starts over 50 innings?  A half season at AAA?  An entire year?  At what point does RDLR become the top candidate to be called up for a spot start when a Sox starter is scratched?  Workman is still being stretched out.

Alex Speier reports that Rubby was sitting at 93 mph yesterday.  41 of RDLR's 50 outs recorded this spring have come from K's or GO,

I would think that his biggest impediment is command, and we won't be able to judge that from box scores, or really all that much from results against minor leaguers. When he really looked great last spring he was sitting 95-97,and as a reliever in the majors last year he was hitting 95 regular with poor results, so 93 doesn't seem like enough.
